Ipod Touch 32GB. $499.00

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 2-5-2008 at 06:18 PM

there is nothing better for plane rides bro.

XHonusWagnerX - 2-5-2008 at 07:15 PM

I still dont think that the touch iPods are worth the money based on the price vs. space.

The 16 gig iPhone came out today too.

XnMeX - 2-5-2008 at 07:17 PM

My 30GB Zune cost $130.00 I am happy as shit with it.

Here's a novel idea... It plays MUSIC!!! Thats what i got it for.

It's like my fiance says....

"Would I want a $300.00 purse? Fuck no! I would rather have a $10.00 purse with $290.00 in it."

I agree with the purse analogy, but I do love my 'iPod' tm ;)

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 2-5-2008 at 08:13 PM

well I have an ipod for music, and the touch for videos for airplane rides. Nothing better for distracting me from the tiny seat and the fat black bitch next to me for 4 hours.

I love it. Have never used an Ipod so I can't compare the 2 of em. Plays music, displays photos, plays video.

if you go the Blackberry route let me know. I always have at least 4 or 5 of those. Maybe we can do a trade.

defstarsteve - 2-6-2008 at 01:05 PM

do I want to know how you got 4 or 5 blackberry's

are they any good?

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 2-6-2008 at 01:21 PM

I buy em and resell em. Despite my associations, I am not a criminal.
By "any good", do you mean are they useful for what you're trying to do? Or do you mean do the ones I have work?

BDx13 - 2-6-2008 at 02:24 PM

steve, i'm planning on getting an iphone for exactly that reason.

my shop is completely mac based and with the iphone, i can handle any of my client's immediate needs from the road (website content updates, server or email issues, etc. the only thing i couldn't do is graphics works.) sure, there are other smart phones i can do this with, but they're either palm or windows mobile based and don't play as nicely with the macs.

dude I wasn't saying anything bad about you. I didn't mean for that to sound dickish...

I know you wouldn't sell junk, I bought that heat press from you that still works, I just meant would they serve my needs..
answering emails being able to veiw full site, and maybe do a little spreadsheet work...

I know I couldn't do my graphics on it, but not being able to keep up with customers can be a bitch

I know this may come as a shock, but I am still pc based...
so I need pal or windows based...

I saw someone with an i-phone the other day and it looked neat, but I don't need another cell phone, I need mobile email and such...
so I thought the i-touch might be cool

BDx13 - 2-6-2008 at 03:50 PM

i think i knew that about your shop being pc-based. blows my mind ;)

but yeah, the itouch has all the same functionality w/o the phone. and because the syncing occurs through itunes (which, as you know, is available for the pc), the iphone and touch are far more compatible with pcs than winmo phones are with macs.

that said, if you need to edit MS office docs (word, xls) you're outta luck with the iphone and touch. they can view, but not edit. (yet, anyway!)

oh I know bro. I didn't take any offense. The criminal comment was sarcastic.

Anyway, with a Blackberry you can get your email instantly, view but not edit Excel spreadsheets (not yet anyway, you can with an add on program that costs $$), and the free mini Opera browser you can view full websites. The only 2 carriers with high speed 3G Blackberrys are Verizon and Sprint. AT&T will have them this year.

Windows Mobile has a lot of benefits like Mobile MS Office and a lot of cool multimedia programs. I just don't like it at all.

iPhone is a pain in the balls to type on. Deleting emails is annoying. But the web browser is superb. The data speed isn't though unless you're connected to Wifi.

Also, Nokia makes some smartphones that get rave reviews but I've never used one so I can't recommend it.

ShawnRefuse - 2-6-2008 at 05:25 PM

I have the iPhone and couldn't live without it now. The touch is only good if you are near WiFi. The edge networks is slow, but for e-mail and youtube it is pretty damn cool.

defstarsteve - 2-6-2008 at 05:35 PM

werd well I have verizon now so 3g blackberry might be the way to go...
i need to get excel support
my main quoting system set up is thru excel...
must do more research

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 2-6-2008 at 06:00 PM

you can read reviews on www.cnet.com

BDx13 - 2-6-2008 at 06:36 PM

steve, are you familiar with google docs? http://docs.google.com it's free web-based word processing and spreadsheet editing.

you can upload your current xls quoting templates, then edit, save and email copies as needed through whatever browser you like. (including safari on the iphone/touch.)

I love mine too! I got this bad ass case for it on OtterBox.com thats super protective. They actually have one model up from what I got and that case is waterproof!

I just wish that you could watch other videos (besides YouTube) from websites on it.

when they release Flash Lite 3 for the mobile Safari browser you'll be able to do that. Nokia's high end phone, the N95, does that now.

bombidol - 2-6-2008 at 07:26 PM

Get an Asus EEE PC I got one, they are bad ass man.
