The Opressed

So I've been drinking for the last few hours and listening to all the bands in "back in the day threads." Along with Fear, DK, NA, etc I've listening to a lot of old oi. That brings me to the Opressed. I LOVE this band so much. "Joe Hawkins" and "We're the Opressed" are such amazing tracks.

I've always loved this band, they're so much better than all the shitty throwaway Oi bands like Condemned 84 and all the rest of those dodgy fencesitters like that.

I'd take a full length CD of the sound of someone with bad beer shits over Condemned 84 any day of the week. I love Oi, but that band is fucking unlistenable and the sketchy politics make 'em even worse. Honestly, I hate white power and all of it's various offshoots, but I have much more respect for a band that will come out and admit that they subscribe to that bullshit than one that plays fencesitter games.

There's being up front and there's never shutting the fuck up. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Oppressed fan but I'm a bigger Condemned 84 fan. I've never much cared about a bands politics. Roddy's pretty relentless though.

Fair enough, we both have our sticking points with politics in music. I just could never understand how anybody could enjoy Condemned 84 from a musical standpoint either. They're like the epitome of a dumbed down stereotype of Oi to me.
