Great movie. Even better book. If you're a reader check out the entire 5 book Patrick and Angie series.

So far both LeHane adaptations (Mystic River and GBG) have been stellar. A lot to do with the source material. Next one is Shutter Island, and Scorsese is directing...they just changed the name though.

I'm going to have to check out his books. I loved both Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River.

JawnDiablo - 2-13-2008 at 10:36 PM

just watched the film.
it was very good
but the book was far better, as usual. you should pick it up.

Spoiler - 2-15-2008 at 11:00 PM

I just bought this movie...gonna try to watch it tonight or tomorrow

Jason the Magnificent - 2-15-2008 at 11:47 PM

The extras are nice...it helps flesh Angie out a bit and deepens her and Patricks relationship, but my single biggest complaint was her seeming like a female tag a long when shes not.

Still an amazing adaptation, regardless of it's faults. Lehane has been very lucky both times one of his books have been put to film they've been pretty amazing. Now he has Scorsese filming the next, what other author has that string of luck.

Spoiler - 2-16-2008 at 09:50 AM

watched it last night....really good movie...I loved the ending,I wasn't expecting that. Makes you think...what would you do ?
I'll watch the bonus features when I get a chance.

Discipline - 2-16-2008 at 02:47 PM

Watched Mystic River again last night, still love it. I'm definitley going to check out some of this dudes books really soon.

JawnDiablo - 2-17-2008 at 11:56 AM

i was thinking about reading mystic river, but i sw the film too many times already

Jason the Magnificent - 2-18-2008 at 01:03 AM

Have you not read it yet? If not you're doing yourself a terrible disservice by not. Though it ends the same way it's a lot deeper of an ending on Jimmy Marcums part.

JawnDiablo - 2-18-2008 at 09:50 AM

in that case i'm going to grab a copy...

Jason the Magnificent - 11-12-2010 at 01:51 PM

FYI, new Lehane-Kenzie/Genarro book out now. Moonlight Mile.

Guess it's a "sequel" of sorts to Gone Baby Gone. Picks up like 10 yrs later.

Just saw it on Amazon this AM.

JawnDiablo - 11-12-2010 at 01:52 PM

cool.
that's going on my Amazon Xmas list
