Earth Crisis to record new album

BDx13 - 2-18-2008 at 11:34 AM

Mtv.com reports that Earth Crisis is currently writing material for a new album, their first in roughly eight years. Band frontman Karl Buechner had the following to say:

"We do plan on putting out a record. We've got six songs so far, and hopefully, we'll record them this year. Hopefully, we'll be playing some of these news songs we've written [on the upcoming tour]. The best way to describe [the new material] is it's a mixture between Destroy the Machines and Breed the Killers. Stylistically, it's most like songs from those albums."

The new album will reportedly be available in early-2009.

clevohardcore - 2-18-2008 at 01:05 PM

I love old Earth Crisis, (Firestorm is fucking tits) but this is horrible. Since their 'reunion', I have lost a lot of respect for them on all levels.

Firestorm and Destroy the Machines is like their zenith. They can't touch that shit again.

I might pick this new thing up if I hear it first and decide that it's any good. Slither was the absolute worst peice of shit ever, and I'm glad I never bought it.

clevohardcore - 2-21-2008 at 11:43 PM

I have been into them since the beginning and saw them many times. Lost respect around 99 when they did those crappy releases. However my favorite of theres is fucking GOMORRAHS SEASON ENDS from 1996. That record is fucking awsome. You don't believe me. Grab it used if you can and turn the volume up. That shit is awsome.

all I have to say is FORGED IN THE FLAMES OF CHAOS. HAMMERED BY TRIALS OF TEMPERED STEEL. CONVICTIONS.....

Now feel the power of the EC.

I laughed at these fools back in the day with all the stories about how militant they were towards non-vegan people at shows. It’s funny when some suburban-rich boy tries to tell me how to live my life.

I could care less also…

^^^^^^^ It was funny, and so was the people at the shows. Esp when they got challenged. THey punked out so much. Even still the music they made for the most part was kick ass.

hardtone - 2-22-2008 at 01:30 PM

I personally never cared what people believed in, but it is kind of amusing when straight-edge/vegan kids preach so much than fall apart once that phase in their lives is over…

I can attribute some of the more memorable points in my life to the joys of alcohol....as well as thepoints I can't remember

I'll say this for EC, they're still straight edge and vegan and all of them are about 40 years old now.

EC was always on the talk big, but rather limp wristed side of the militant vegan scene. There were some rough cats doing shit before them.

Like it fucking matters what PERSONAL choices people make? No matter the age. It's not affecting you either way. So to say that they are still sXe or veg is a moot point.

I'm the last person to defend those fucktards and honestly, aside from Dave's comment I had no idea whether they were still on that path or not, but the fact that they are still committed to those ideals is commendable. Having said that, I will say that I find their particular brand of SxE rather repulsive, but at least they have the strength of will to stick to their guns well past the time that most of their following went the easy route.

And what exactly is the easy route? Because I have been ALL kinds of ways and none of them have been easy.

All I was referring to there were the kids who decided to drop their beliefs to "fit in" or be "cool". Joining the herd is a lot easier than standing up for yourself, sober or not.

clevohardcore - 2-25-2008 at 09:10 AM

I'll give you that. Supposedly these guys are STILL edge and VEGAN. That has to say something. And I like EC. I don't care that they release awful records now. THey were the shit and I'll remember that.

What he said.

Besides, I think the point is that they aren't reuniting as a band that was made expressly for the purpose of promoting the vegan straight edge lifestyle and then not themselves being vegan straight edge any longer. I find it absolutely disgusting when bands reunite and they don't even practice what they sang about in said band. Take this Strife reunion for example. That was a straight edge band, the fact that half the guys aren't edge anymore means alot.

It doesn't mean anything. If they wanna play great. Let them play. Edge or not. It doesn't matter.

tireironsaint - 2-25-2008 at 09:59 PM

Doesn't mean anything? Obvious difference aside, imagine a white power band breaking up, some of the members realizing they don't follow that ideology anymore and then reforming the band and singing white power songs. Of course it matters.

Does it matter to me if a person is edge and then decides they'd like to have a drink or something? No, of course not, but that's not the same as the members of a band that was specifically established to sing about that ideology.

I understand you're point and agree to an extent. We'll just leave it at that.

hardtone - 2-26-2008 at 12:48 AM

I know people on this board like EC, I just never got their sound. I've always been a Slap Shot / Judge type of person if I'm going to listen to the SE style at all.
