Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Favorite live band

Discipline - 3-2-2008 at 06:13 PM

If you had to pick just one, who would be your favorite live band? I've seen more bands then I could ever hope to remember over the years, but if I had to pick one it would be the Dayglo Abortions. Every time I see them I have a blast. It's a great atmosphere, lots of fun with no bullshit. Booze everywhere, awesome circle pits, everybody singing along. Before I became the broken-down old man I am, the one song that sent me on a tear through the pit was "Proud to Be Canadian." There have been a lot of songs over the years that I love to go off to, but that song live always sent me into new levels of crazy. I have so many great memories from all the Dayglo's shows I've seen over the years. I rarely ever go to shows anymore, but the Dayglo's are one of only a few bands I'll still leave the house for.

Social Distortion

I am so jealous. I would love to see the Dayglos.

Murphy's Law had always been a good time for me.
It's usually a bunch of drunken has beens or never beenslike myself slurring up the lyrics of 25 year old songs about panty raids and spilling PBR on one another.
It usually reminds me that there are some things in the world worth living for.

I agree with this except for the fact that the last few times Ive seen them they havent been up to par. Im not sure if Jimmy is to old, or if the backing band of young guys havent been up to par or if the whole thing has just gotten old for me. In the past I LOVED Murphys Law shows (and Ive always been sxe). I would pound on the stage, sing along and go nuts, but the last few times just havent been the same.

Other than ML, I would say that BFB was great everytime I saw them... obviously SLAPSHOT is on the top of my list too. Seeing the Bosstones used to be pretty amazing, but I havent seen them in years. I think The Welch Boys are probably one of the newer bands that I always have a good time seeing.

JawnDiablo - 3-2-2008 at 07:19 PM

now that you mention it, the last time i saw ML it was kind of weak.
Harley was playing drums and there were hardly anyone there.
bummer.
i missed out on a lot of the bands i dig the most just due to the fact i was a lil squirt when they were at their peak.

clevohardcore - 3-2-2008 at 07:54 PM

SOIA

XnMeX - 3-2-2008 at 08:17 PM

Obviously I would say Blood for Blood...

Best show ever was BF and The Bruisers at the Elvis Room (capacity was about 125 people TOPS). My god. Nothing will beat that,

tireironsaint - 3-2-2008 at 08:32 PM

I've seen a lot of amazing shows, but one band that has never let me down is The Briefs. SUPER high energy and non-stop fun. Street Dogs are right up there as well, those guys have such amazing stage presence.

Spoiler - 3-2-2008 at 09:37 PM

ANTiSEEN by far.I've seen these guys play a hundred times and I have never NEVER seen a bad show. They always give 100% at every show.Pure Rock n Roll fury.

Hank III & Assjack...every show is top notch. He plays non stop for at least 2 hours straight...from country to hellbilly to full blown metal....and after the show, instead of running back stage,he stands at the front of the stage and shakes hands and takes pics until the last person leaves.Hank III shows are always a good time.

I gotta say Murphys Law as well....This was probably the first REAL hc band I ever seen live, and I've only seen them about 4 or 5 times....but each show was a drunken blast.

defstarsteve - 3-2-2008 at 10:03 PM

MyOwnWay - 3-2-2008 at 11:13 PM

Poison and Sick Of It All

Tied. Both bring out two different sides of me. For that reason both are perfect live.

DaveMoral - 3-2-2008 at 11:41 PM

Hmmm. SOIA is probably literally the best I've ever seen. But back in the day Burn It Down from Indianapolis always put on a good show no matter where I saw them. Be it a club, an old theater turned club, a record store or a church basement with no working PA... it was good times. They are probably not most people's style around these parts though.

Mark Lind - 3-3-2008 at 02:24 AM

Rancid
Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Flogging Molly
Dropkick Murphys

Far From Finished
Born to Lose
Saves the Day (yes, I said it)
Foo Fighters
Bright Eyes
Guns N Roses
Madball

Six66Mike - 3-3-2008 at 07:09 AM

Sick of it All for sure.

I wish I could say Blood For Blood but the last time I saw them it was a really short set and they were all wasted, it sounded like shit.

Sick of it All have never been a let down and always play their hardest every time they get on stage.

CR83 - 3-3-2008 at 06:47 PM

KISS was THE best live show I have ever seen. Original members too with make-up

Band that I have seen multiple times that brings it ever time- SOIA. None better.

Mark Lind - 3-3-2008 at 06:49 PM

Blood for Blood were like the Replacements of hardcore. They were either brilliant or complete shit but you never knew what you were getting til they plugged in and started playing.

I enjoyed both. Something beautiful in seeing Budha forgetting the words to Soulless. Same show that I saw some guy taking about 5-10 steps..... from off the stage and across peoples sholders. lol

Discipline - 3-3-2008 at 08:49 PM

I saw Blood For Blood a bunch of times, and loved every single show. I was at the show that 666Mike mentioned, and while the band wasn't playing their best that night I still had a blast. It might also be because I was hanging with Rob and Buddha at the bar for about an hour. I bought a few rounds, so I added to their drunkeness I guess.
