google gives out your address from your phonee #

thedog - 4-7-2008 at 11:25 AM

i just got this email.

This is for USA phone numbers

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone
number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and
address.
If you then hit Map, you will get a map to the person's house! It's a
nationwide reverse telephone book.

If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find
out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the map and directions straight to our house.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to Google,
http://www.google.com/

Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212 ) and hit enter. If
you want to

BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your
telephone number

and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

BDx13 - 4-7-2008 at 11:58 AM

reverse lookups have been available online for years.
people are just shitting themselves now (i assume) because it's google.

not to say they shouldn't, of course...

clevohardcore - 4-7-2008 at 12:00 PM

defstarsteve - 4-7-2008 at 12:05 PM

be careful
the 2nd hit for mine was a virius site...
made it look like someone else had my phone info and as soon as clicked it my anti v started freaking out

clevohardcore - 4-7-2008 at 12:19 PM

I wont use the link above but if I use my GOOGLE toobar will it give me my info? Or are you saying that that shit started bugging out when you did your own search on your own google bar?

clevohardcore - 4-7-2008 at 12:21 PM

DONT USE THIS LINK! ITS BULLSHIT!

I used my own google toolbar and it hd no matches this is bullshit. The real GOOGLE does not allow this to happen.

BDx13 - 4-7-2008 at 01:06 PM

clevo, it's not bullshit. i've done it dozens of times on google and other sites like yellowpages.com.

if your number is unlisted or a voip number, then it may not come up.

Another reason I love my Vonage.

Like BD said, this has been available for years. Online yellowpages have always done this unless your number is unlisted or it's a cell number. Collection agencies use these every day.

LOL is this the one where it takes you to a site that says its tracing you, then zooms in to a dude getting pounding in the ass? hahaha

And yes Reverse Lookup sites have been around for years.

Pretty sure this one is a scam to get you guys lookin at gay porn.

Collection agencies use worse... They have programs they pay monthly for that can look people up in almost any way you can think of. While on the topic... You know all those contests for trips, free cars, atv's, etc that you see in the malls and all over the place? Guess what? That info put on the forms goes straight to the companies that the collection agencies "subscribe" to. Because obviously if you are entering a contest, you are gonna give them 100% corect information so they can delievery your free yacht to ya.
