Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

ROUND 3

Voodoobillyman - 4-14-2008 at 01:23 AM

Sorry to step on your toes BadVibes, but I had a really good one and wanted to see the outcome. Without further ado:

Blood for Blood

Or

Sheer Terror

morgan - 4-14-2008 at 01:31 AM

Blood for Blood. I'm going to predict Sheer Terror winning though.

defstarsteve - 4-14-2008 at 01:42 AM

fuck this....

I am not voting

tireironsaint - 4-14-2008 at 02:13 AM

No contest, Sheer Terror. Don't get me wrong, Blood For Blood are/were fantastic and made me realize that there were still some people out there who actually got it, but that's just not a fair comparison at all.

bombidol - 4-14-2008 at 04:16 AM

Blood for bood

Six66Mike - 4-14-2008 at 04:33 AM

Blood For Blood

Has more to do with sentimental reasons than music. This is the band I went to see at my first hardcore show & I've never been let down by a single release they've done from start to finish.

barc0debaby - 4-14-2008 at 07:23 AM

Blood for blood. They didn't cover Boys don't cry.

panzerkreuzer - 4-14-2008 at 07:31 AM

thatīs really hard to decide, but i vote for sheer terror. they did this "hate" sound first and the early bfb stuff is heavily influenced by s.t.

XnMeX - 4-14-2008 at 07:43 AM

blood for blood. It may come as a suprise but I have tried getting into ST but it's just not for me I guess.

gavin - 4-14-2008 at 07:44 AM

pa-lease niggaz
sheer terror by a mile
and the fact that they covered boys dont cry make them that much better
blood for blood are a killer band
love them
but come on............we are talkin sheer terror here

gavin - 4-14-2008 at 07:46 AM

sheer terror was one of 5 bands that litterally made my jaw drop when i first heard them
where the wild things are comp.
i forget what year it was but it was beofre alot of youz were born
holy shit
changed everything

Lucabrasi - 4-14-2008 at 08:37 AM

Never liked the Sheer Terror I heard. I used to like blood for blood alot so I'm going with them.

clevohardcore - 4-14-2008 at 08:47 AM

Same here.

mattybar - 4-14-2008 at 09:09 AM

sheer terror by a country mile.
blood for blood only made one good record in my humble opinion and even then the demo was better,

XHonusWagnerX - 4-14-2008 at 10:06 AM

wow.... this is the hardest one by far!!

I LOVE Sheer Terror, but I think that my vote goes to BFB. :puzzled:

Furly - 4-14-2008 at 11:01 AM

Yeah, this one sucks!

I'm going with Sheer Terror, I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I hate from them.

B4B is GREAT, one of my favorite bands, but just yesterday I was listening to Serenity and thinking about how much I hate it.

You just like to be difficult! You've voted against me in ever round so far.... jerk!

Serenity isnt that bad. The cover of 'Runaway' is kind of weak, but I like the rest of it.

Yeah, ofcourse Runaway is the only song on the album I like.

I can't help it, it's in my nature to be a jerk to boys, and I only get worse so get over it.

defstarsteve - 4-14-2008 at 12:33 PM

okay fuck it sheer terror
if there was no sheer terror there would be no blood for blood...

it's like picking which of your children you like better

Discipline - 4-14-2008 at 12:56 PM

No contest. Sheer Terror all the way. I love Blood For Blood, but they can't touch Sheer Terror.

JawnDiablo - 4-14-2008 at 01:15 PM

Sheer
Fuckin
Terror

without them I doubt B4B woulda been what they were.

For me it was Ugly & Proud. It was the first time I heard Sheer Terror all those years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. Blood For Blood is the bastard step-child of ST. They're great, but Paulie and co. rule supreme.

newbreedbrian - 4-14-2008 at 03:58 PM

another tough one. i'll go sheer terror

tireironsaint - 4-14-2008 at 04:01 PM

I don't understand what's so tough about this choice. Yeah, these are two amazing bands, but without Sheer Terror, I doubt that Blood For Blood would have existed. At least not in any form that sounds anything like they do/did.

newbreedbrian - 4-14-2008 at 04:41 PM

what i don't understand is people who automatically assume that other people should or do have the same tastes/opinions as themselves. i got over that "everyone who doesn't like what i like is stupid" attitude years ago. i know that comes off as rude, but it's really not meant to. i think my soft spot for bfb comes from the time period they came out in. by the time i heard them, i already thought hardcore was pretty much dead. i know people now look back on the 90s bands with nostalgia now, but honestly i think most of those bands were and are complete shit. it was pretty refreshing to hear blood for blood and realize that it wasn't just me who felt the same way. it reminded of that feeling i got when i was in junior high just getting into hardcore punk, that excitement at discovering new bands. did they reinvent the wheel? of course not, it was just a time and a place in my life. the fact that i still chose sheer terror says a lot about how i feel about both of those bands.

Spoiler - 4-14-2008 at 05:14 PM

Sheer Terror is my all time favorite band....so they get my vote.

B4B is in my top 5 list though

WINTHESKIN - 4-14-2008 at 05:27 PM

Sheer Terror.Blood for Blood is one of my favorites, but come on this is no contest.Rob said it best in the Sheer Terror dvd."Haaadcore i mean ,to me its dead,i despise the term but Sheer Terror epitamizes the term Haaadcore"

Well put Brian. I jsut remember the very first time I heard B4B on the Victory sampler. I had fucking goose bumps. I'll never forget it.

BDx13 - 4-14-2008 at 06:42 PM

whatever, brian.
it's sheer terror or get off my board.

;)

DaveMoral - 4-14-2008 at 06:47 PM

I'm sitting this one out. I've heard way more BFB than Sheer Terror, but Sheer Terror is BFB's reason for existence.

I'm not qualified to vote.

I'm assuming this was directed my way, but maybe not. Anyway, I honestly feel the same way about Blood For Blood as you outlined here. I'm pretty sure I've laid that out on here before but when I first heard them I had completely given up on HC and was listening mostly to Oi and other stuff. A friend of mine kept throwing new bands on that he thought might "bring me back", but it all sounded like shit. Then one night running around, somebody we were giving a ride to asked my friend to throw in a tape he had on him and Blood For Blood was on it. Man, my ears perked right up and I was trying to peg them as an old band I had somehow missed out on until I found out more about them. I felt a huge rush knowing that there was at least one band coming out at that time that still had the feeling that I heard in classic bands. Sadly, they were one of a handful of bands and not the leaders of a resurgence of good HC as I was hoping, but they still deserve all the credit in the world for what they did.

As far as thinking people are stupid for not agreeing or having the same taste as me, if I actually did that I would hate almost everyone in the world. I've got plenty of hate in me, but that's just pointless. I understand that people have their own taste and come into these things from completely different angles, but it's pretty obvious to anyone who takes a moment to think about it objectively that certain bands would not have come about had other bands not existed previously. That's not a slam on anybody, it's just part of the evolution of music.

JawnDiablo - 4-14-2008 at 09:57 PM

shit...the only reason I ever came to post on this board was because Thorp put out the Sheer Terror DVD.....

Voodoobillyman - 4-15-2008 at 03:11 AM

Well, by my tally it's Sheer Terror by two votes. If it had been a tie I would have voted, but since it's not....I won't :)
I wanted to do this one because I knew it would get the blood pumpin in all of us geezers.

BKT - 4-15-2008 at 02:03 PM

Blood for Blood.

MM.
