As you may have read here or here, Andy traveled to NYC this past weekend, and we hit up three shows in two days. We saw lots of good bands, met lots of good people, and ate
lots of good food. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get around to getting a good night's sleep!
THE DUCKY BOYS
BDx13 - 3-29-2005 at 03:23 AM
The first show we went to was The Pug Uglies, The Ducky Boys and Dropkick Murphys at Irving Plaza in Manhattan on Saturday night.
Bottom line here people? The Ducky Boys put on an outstanding live performance. If you have the chance to see them live, do it.
Pug Uglies, including 'extra guy', also played well (I've been enjoying their CD all day). Didn't get to see DKM on Saturday, cause we had to high
tale it over to Brooklyn for the Superbowl of Hardcore.

2 - Steve, Mark, yours truly, Andy King, Doug, Jay, and the dressing room flat screen.

SUPERBOWL OF HARDCORE
BDx13 - 3-29-2005 at 03:42 AM
There were 18 or 20 bands scheduled to play over 10 hours at this year's superbowl, the first one to be held in NYC in years. It started at 2pm, but
Andy and I arrived fashionably late... at 10:30pm. The place was packed, and people had been there all day, but everyone was still going ape shit,
and -quite surprisingly- there weren't any fights to report. We only got to see Madball and Sick of it All, but both bands played fucking hard. SOIA
played a lot of old songs, including My Revenge from the 7" and Locomotive, which they haven't played in 10 years. And after nearly four years of
occasional email conversations, I finally met Danny NSK, and we also ran into John from Awkward Thought.

BRAIN FAILURE
BDx13 - 3-29-2005 at 03:52 AM
OK, this band is from CHINA, so there was no reason why I couldn't get off my ass and travel the 20 minutes from Brooklyn to Manhattan to see them.
So after a hearty meal of steak and wine, Andy and my wife and I headed back to Irving Plaza for Brain Failure, The Casualties, and DKM. Meeting BF
was a lot of fun. They're a great bunch of guys, and despite the language barrier, we had a great time and they put on a passionate show. BF has
been added to a handful of Warped Tour dates, and is doing a three-week tour with The Escaped in April, so if you get a chance, check them out.

1 - The Miller/King/Brain Failure Family
2 & 3 - BF on stage
4 & 5 - taking advantage of the VIP monitor
