Everytime I run the antivirus it stops around 100,000. It continuely runs the computer and it goes nowhere. What would cause this?

Make sure there's no power saver mode or screen saver stuff setup in windows. If Windows tries to sleep or something it'll stop Norton.

If it keeps failing, get AVG Free.

^^^^^^^^^^^ where can I find that out at? I took the screensaver of my son off and it ended up taking all night long to run. It finally finished around 10a.m when I started it at 2a.m.

Same place you disable the screen saver usually. There should be a Power or Power Settings button which you can click on to bring up the options.

I would set Turn off hard disks, system standby and system hibernates to Never.

If Norton actually finished and just took a really long time, it's a step forward. Atleast this time it finished :) Maybe next time it'll go a bit quicker since a full scan was finally done.
