I lurk on hear almost daily to see what you mofos are talking about ....so I figured I would finally start contributing....BD and I always discuss thorp board happenings in our special private times together.

My name is Darren....I live in the philly area....been listening to hardcore for a long ass time and still listen to it daily. I hardly ever go to shows. I think the last show I went to was Starkweather a while back.

These days, I collect old reggae 45s. I sold most of my HC collection in 1994 so I could eat dinner and travel to third world hell holes.

yeah, so get used to me chiming in on topics. I am mostly not an asshole.

sweet abdullah the butcher sig.

I only saw him wrestle once live. Maybe early 1990 (?) in South Philly. He didn't bust out the fork but used some sort of pencil or chopstick to gouge his forehead and his opponents forhead. Dude was bleeding before he even got to the ring. I think he wreslted Manny Fernandez or Cactus Jack.....can't remember for sure but I think all 3 were on the bill that evening. I am no wrestling expert but some friends of mine invited me to go with them....good times.

i saw him wrestle a few years ago at the old ecw arena
he wrestled kevin sullivan, another one of the all time greats
they were out of the ring and in the crowd in about 2 mins.
me and my boy cosmo were pushing wrestling nerds outta the way like we were at a show and gettin right up on abby and sullivan yelling right in their faces
it was killer!

haha....no worries, during the match I saw, Abdullah spent about 70 percent of his time in the crowd.....people were rushing away from the chaos but there were a handful of dudes up in his grill and even slapping him on the back!!!...I thought that ruled.

One of the dudes I went with was big on insulting the wrestlers....got spit on and everything! (I think by a young lex luger but it may have been a young sting).

Ah, the ECW arena, one of the few places you can get pepper sprayed and attacked by elderly wrestlling fans all in the same evening!

Lord Action Wood is my joke DJ name when I spin Jamaican records. In the 60s, an x-rated genre of reggae emerged which I always found hilarious. Action Wood is actually a name of a song from the early 70s. Jamaican selectors/DJs always prefaced their name with Lord or Sir or Count as to make them sound badass...sort of like a lot of early hip-hop DJs. So I was just copying their style.....plus, I hate seeing my real name on flyers for nights....and I think its funny to see Lord Action Wood in print, on posters at clubs.

I am a giant reggae nerd, but I understand its not everyone's cup of tea....but since the VoodooBillyman asked what my handle meant, I had to elaborate a little....now back to the hardcore.

Mine is derived from the most elegant of hillbilly voodoo practitioners hailing from the deserts of the great Southwest where roadside crosses mean more than memorials. It's also a tribute to my favorite band in the whole wide world Deadbolt. It's also the title of one of their greatest tunes and the only band affiliated tattoo I have ever or will ever get.
