If any of you have......

......been watching the news at all, you may or may not know that we have pushed into Sadr City recently. It was considered "the wild west" or east in this case of Baghdad and was originally thought to be the precurser to a pretty big blood bath when we finally got around to doing it. Well, good news (which means maybe the media is not reporting on it back home, since they don't give a shit about the postivies over here) Sadr City is full of ISF (Iraqi security forces) with CF (Coalition forces) close by and not a single incident has occured. Keep your fingers crossed, this may be the beginning of something very good, or the eery quiet before something very bad.

The media is reporting it. Guess the Jaysh al-Mahdi is kind of disbanding and Muqtada al-Sadr's movement is looking to turn more towards the political sphere than the militant. That's what I was hearing on the News Hour with John Lehrer this afternoon.

The Mahdi Army is not disbanding so much as they are not doing anything at all. Sadr has always had a vested interest in becoming more politically influential in Baghdad, that's why he called a cease fire to begin with, his militias actions were beginning to turn the popular opinion against him and he couldn't have that. He also knows the last time JAM went toe to toe with CF they were heavily outgunned and did not stand a chance of all out combat. Now with ISF coming together, they would have an even tougher time. This whole special groups thing is poppycock, I believe Sadr has secretly sanctioned certain actions attributed to special groups, hell he's hiding out in Tehran as we speak. I knew you would be keeping up with this and I look foward to discussing more of it with you when I am done with this tour and can openly do so. When do you move?
