Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Dear Roger Miret

Lucabrasi - 7-21-2008 at 09:59 AM

Throw in the towel with Agnostic Front already. Stick full time with The Alligators because their 10x better.

Sincerely
-Nick (Lucabrasi) Marandola

Discipline - 7-21-2008 at 10:50 AM

What about The Disasters?

XHonusWagnerX - 7-21-2008 at 10:53 AM

Alligators > Agnostic Front > Disasters

Lucabrasi - 7-21-2008 at 10:53 AM

nope, no good.
Alligators only.

tireironsaint - 7-21-2008 at 11:10 AM

Disasters are alright, but are much better live than on recordings. Alligators should definitely become a full time gig and in my eyes, AF is already dead.

Mark Lind - 7-21-2008 at 11:28 AM

Who are the Alligators?

Dear Roger Miret.....

Please don't kill everyone in this thread.

Sincerely,

Me

Discipline - 7-21-2008 at 11:38 AM

Alligators are Miret backed by Insted.

SS76 - 7-21-2008 at 11:53 AM

saw the Disasters with the Horrorpops a couple years ago....not that good.

I thought that sounded like a horrible combination until I actually heard the songs. This shit is what I think of when I'm looking for an actual Hard Core band. They do a Negative Approach cover on the CD and it fits right in.

I like AF, but was never a huge fan (dont lynch me!) but The Alligators are fucking awesome!!!!

Dave - 7-21-2008 at 01:54 PM

they have a cd out?

CR83 - 7-21-2008 at 02:02 PM

Where can one hear this delicious sounding band?

DAK - 7-21-2008 at 02:25 PM

Here's a link below to their myspace page.

ShawnRefuse - 7-21-2008 at 02:37 PM

sounds good. definitely better than the Disasters.

newbreedbrian - 7-21-2008 at 03:39 PM

alligators are the shit. i'd love to see him devote his full attention to that band

jsinn - 7-21-2008 at 03:46 PM

wow...

so much for standing behind the godfathers...jesus...

the new guys are great...and a great bunch of guys to boot (no pun intended...)
and I think Warriors is a great record.
(you can read that in the new Hails and Horns...yeah, a cheap plug!!!)

mickey wouldn't throw in the towel...
why are you so anxious to?
ahhhh....youth.....

I guess you think Madball should call it quits too...
who else?

Any hardcore band that continues to play hardcore in this day and age and in this culture of injustice is all right in my book...
when hardcore dies...we all die and are left with?
what?
american idol?
the clone wars from california?
c'mon kids...
respect yer elders...you could learn something from them...

(and the aged man steps slowly from his soapbox, not trying to dislocate his brittle knee, ravaged from three decades of skateboard abuse...)

Mark Lind - 7-21-2008 at 04:06 PM

It would be a sad day if Roger hung it up. And Madball is still killer.

xChino_Martinezx - 7-21-2008 at 04:19 PM

I like this band a lot, it's way more fresh than AF, Roger injected more life into this new band than into the last 2 AF records and I am a big AF fan, but the last 2 records were predictable and kinda boring after a couple of hearings... and The Disasters are surely not my cup of tea...

I think its safe to say that most of us here are just as old as you and some probably older so being aged doesnt have anything to do with it. Its really all just a matter of opinion.

We definitly respect the elders around here! You probably wont see more love for AF, Negative Approach, Sheer Terror, Slapshot, Bad Brains, Antiseen, etc on any other board!

Its hard to dispute that the early AF stuff is amazing, but the last few records havent been up to par. That doesnt mean they should stop playing but it does mean that most people that go out and see them really just want to see the old songs.

As far as Madball goes I would have been just fine if they would have put out the 'Ball of Destruction' 7" and called it a day. I know I'm in the minority, but Im just not really a fan beyond the 1st single and a few songs here and there.

i agree with this post 100%

CR83 - 7-21-2008 at 04:49 PM

Madball is awesome for me.
AF Never Really did it but hey, they keep going and seem like good dudes.
love the disasters
Listening to the myspace page tracks of the Alligators....not sold on them. oh well. I only wish them the best.

Discipline - 7-21-2008 at 05:06 PM

I still love AF, I just wish they were going in less of a metal direction and more of a hardcore direction. I would rather hear another Victim in Pain or Something's Gotta Give than Another Voice or Warriors, even though both those albums have some decent tunes.

newbreedbrian - 7-21-2008 at 05:26 PM

kids....hahahaha :wink1:

jsinn - 7-21-2008 at 06:42 PM

hahaha...ok...so I take back the kids...

and thanks for the heads up on Alligators...I contacted them about doing a piece and they were down...

good lookin' out...

wasn't meaning to bag on anything or anyone...or even youth...

but I have a lot of respect for these guys...as well as the new guys...
and I guess I am in the minority when it comes to "Warriors"

that's why I love this country...
you can like what you want, for the most part...

defstarsteve - 7-21-2008 at 07:18 PM

he is not a member of the thorp warriors so he is not counted as a member of the community

and for those of you who are new here someday we'll make home team shirts but they will have to be different than the first batch

panzerkreuzer - 7-21-2008 at 07:20 PM

i have none, but i want one. i want to be thorp warrior, too.
thorp international. today the board, tomorrow the world.

Dave - 7-21-2008 at 08:09 PM

i'd buy another thorp warrior shirt, with a different design, i already have two of the first one!

xChino_Martinezx - 7-21-2008 at 08:20 PM

I'm in for world domination, we need some ferrets and enough nitroglicerin to blow a whole block, in it's deficiency, lots of hydrochloric acid and that silver wrapping paper, the ferrets we can't replace those are vital for the plan, lab rats just wont do... I'm also in for a home team t-shirt in the future, that would be really cool and something anyone would be honored to wear...

defstarsteve - 7-21-2008 at 08:31 PM

og style

SS76 - 7-21-2008 at 08:48 PM

no problem rockin a cool thorp shirt... I like the black metal style personally..

XnMeX - 7-21-2008 at 09:39 PM

If new "Warriors" shirts do get mad,e I will buy one. I am down to a 2x / 3x so the 6xl isn't fitting anymore ;)

DeathByForce - 7-21-2008 at 10:03 PM

I'd buy a new one! I still have mine and still rep it.

I'm jelous!

those are pretty cool, the upper one looks really badass...

and the thorp shirts look fricking awesome!

Lucabrasi - 7-21-2008 at 10:40 PM

I would be more then happy to design the shirt (for free of course) just as long as I got a free one out of the deal.

defstarsteve - 7-21-2008 at 10:46 PM

they were free last time right?

Lucabrasi - 7-21-2008 at 11:03 PM

had to pay shipping and handling. Man, what a rip-off!:)

Yep, sounds right.

JawnDiablo - 7-22-2008 at 07:05 AM

if reprints get done I need to get myself some thorp gang colors.
oh, yeah AF should throw in the towel.
those last few records were shit metal. can't beleive I paid for one of them.
Alligators are pretty much what I been wanting to hear...in a nutshell....

upyerbum - 7-22-2008 at 07:42 AM

I'm not even sure that I paid for shipping. As far as AF go, I've never been a big fan, but I don't think they should hang it up, even Motorhead put out a few stinkers.

Dave - 7-22-2008 at 07:45 AM

there were two batches last time, one was pay shipping, (which rocked), and other was hella cheap.(which also rocked.......)

Jason the Magnificent - 7-22-2008 at 01:28 PM

AF hasn't done anything relevant in over 15 years. Tons of respect to them for still doing what they love, but respect for people doesn't make good music. People making good music does.

AF always catered to hardcore trends with their style and adapted to fit with the times, sometimes with great success, sometimes not so much...Madball though, I'd rather have Korn on eternal repeat while watching turd porn with my eyes strapped open like Alex in Clockwork orange than have to hear their last 2 albums ever again. Theres no fitting with the times...that band just forgot how to put a decent song together.

Hardcore is never going to die because washed up old tattoo'd people stop playing it or move on. New kids come in faster than old ones move out...just because we can't relate to the majority of what they're doing doesn't make it any less relevant than anything we ever did.
