lawn care question?

XHonusWagnerX - 7-24-2008 at 01:56 PM

Ok... so I dont really do anything to the lawn at my house. A guy comes ever week or two and cuts it and what not. I water it (but I really just started this week because I kept forgetting). Anyway... 2 seperate times there have been these really weird looking mushrooms in the lawn. They are not soft and they are rooted deep! I almost hurt my foot trying to kick one out of the lawn. Any idea what to do about it other than just dig them out?

Heres a couple of pictures....

It's an alien invasion.

they look like they'd be fun to throw at people while driving on the highway.

Mushrooms suck. I ge them from time to time. I have tried to read up on how to combat them. Apparently you can't do anything but kick them up.

its a TOO MUCH MOISTURE issue. Basically you shoudl airate the yard once a year. Its a machine that punches small holes throughout the yard about 3-4 inches deep or so. It promotes air circulation and proper moisture retention. IT costs about $30 for 4 hours to rent from HOME DEPOT.

Guess it must be a big circulation issue because we hadnt had much rain at all (until the last 2 days) and this was the 2nd time they popped up and the grew fast!

I think Ive seen 'shoes' that are suposed to airate your lawn. You put them on and they have big spikes on them that poke in the grass.

Thanks guys!
