Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

OK, Nintendo Wii- Opinions?

CR83 - 7-29-2008 at 04:54 PM

I'm not a "gamer" by any sense of the word. I like this Wii thing. Gets you moving and the Little Ones can play. I have had two people bring one over to the house and it was fun.

I am tempted to get one for either my home or my office. I would invite clients and candidates in for Friday afternoon Wii Tounraments. I run a Recruiting Company so any positive vibe I can put out is good.

What is a fair price for one of these bastards? I have played the sports games that come with it. Personally, I'd try the Wii Fit too.

I'm basically just starting my research on this thing so opionions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

$250.00 is retail. I don't know if you have Comcast in your area but I saw they are giving away Wiis to new "Triple play" subscribers.

its so fucked up... when we were in Europe Mark was looking for headphones so we went to "MediaMarkt" (which is like Bestbuy kind of) and there was a HUGE pile of Wii's! It had to be at least 30 of them!

You know why? Nintendo is short changing America... It is true they are still not able to meet demand, but they are shipping more units to Europe ande making tsure they are ALLWAYS in stock there instead of America... Why? you ask... It's because our dollar is worth shit right now and they are making more in Europe off of them because A) Gaming stuff is allways priced higher in europe and B) With the prices being higher there and our dollar being weaker here... Only makes sense from a business standpoint.

That's good info. I have run some google searches to find pricing.

Check it. Anything you are shopping for plust the price range. For example, I'm looking for a Wii so you'd type:

Wii $200:$250

The results pull up who falls into that category.

It's a video game I do know that much. At least i think thats what it is. Japanese people invented it and you hold it like a stick and dance like a goof.

I got mine for 300 on ebay when they first came out. I am happy with it. It is definitely a fun party/office thing.

I bring it in sometimes and everyone has a blast.

Guitar Hero and Rockband are fun too!!

Lots of fun. We got our daughter one for Christmas and we all play it. They have big boy games for it too.

Good system but PS3 and Xbox rule it because their hardware is better and has the ability to play games with a lot more memory ie. Grand Theft Auto

I've had one for about a year
our favorite games are the 2 zombie shooters they have...
we even bought the wii gun attachment
just run around blast zobies....
so much fun
gonna get wii fit soon...
they are making a skateboarding game that uses the wii fit mat controller....
that could be dangerous

we got rockband for the 360 since RB2 comes out next month exclusive ofr it and the game is compatible to the first...
my 13 year old daughter has already become some kind of drum god...
I am buying her real drums and lessons next week...
playing on expert is pretty god damn close to actually playing the real drum lines...
I need more time to nerd out

My buddy bought one and fucking loves it. His wife loves it because you can download old NES games like Super Mario Brothers for it which she loves.

This is directed at everyone and not just your post....

I think its horrible that kids/adults are using games like Rockband as a launch pad to decide whether or not they want to/can play actual instruments. And more often than not kids would rather play Rockband/Guitar Hero than pick up an actual instrument.

"playing on expert is pretty god damn close to actually playing the real drum lines.."

This part ,however, I really disagree with.

Best part about the Wii.

defstarsteve - 7-31-2008 at 12:08 AM

well you can disagree with my post all you like, but as someone who has played drums in bands, and have played the songs on expert... it's god damn close
and I thin it's great kids are taking an intrest in music from games...
anything that expands someones intrest into the arts is postive
schools are not doing it so soeone has to....
and my daughter has played guitar for real for over a year, and enjoys it, but finds the rock band crap too fake so she is not into it...

but she is learning more about singing and playing drums...hell how can it be bad
