The Olympics- who's down?

CR83 - 8-11-2008 at 03:00 PM

Before I had a kid I could give two shits about the Olympics. I am a HUGE hockey fan and I don't even watch Olympics hockey.

I have a 4 year old daughter who is in love with the games. It has been great watching them with her. So much better then watching Dora or some gay shit like that.

She keeps asking me if the athletes eat sugar. I tell her no. Athlete Candy is what we call "fruit". So far she really digs the 6 foot 2 inch sand volleyball gal with the last name of Walsh.

I am pro-olympics now. They set a good example for the Short Ones. Also the strength it takes to do some of the gymnastic stuff is ming boggling.

Couldn't care less.

I watched some of the intro stuff on Saturday.
Them Asians do some cool crap with lights and technology boy.....some of that stuff looked amazing.

I'm looking forward to diving. watched a bit of the US/China basketball game yesterday. Swimming i'd have liked to watch. Wish they'd play the Judo stuff, but that can be watched on line.

I was watching fencing the other day... here's the thing about high level swordsmanship... it's not entertaining. There's no clanging sword blades like in the movies because these folks are so skilled they just go in for the strike and it's either there or it's not. No need for blocks and parries.

Not really into it. I am more of an X-Games kind of guy. None the less if it allows for time well spent with your kids then it can't be all the bad. Good for you dude.

a friend that I worked with for years is in the olympics for sailing. really rooting for him but otherwise I don't care a whole lot. seeing how hard he worked to get there definitely gives me a new perspective on how dedicated those athletes are though

Im really not into it at all, but anything that is a good influence on kids is cool so I agree with Mr.CR83 on that. Plus I think I rather watch Olympics than Dora too.

clevohardcore - 8-11-2008 at 08:53 PM

I got into it in 1996 but never so much since. I can see it being more entertaining as I age though.

Dude, everyone on China's team is like Yao. Giant northerners! Most of them just aren't nearly as good.

It was almost like the US was toying with them because it was close into the 2nd quarter. Then the US just smoked 'em from there.

Exactly. We are really working the "walsh" thing with her too. My daughter eats pretty healthy as I'm sure you can imagine. She tries to have cookies, cake and candy and shit like any kid. We just keep telling her that Walsh doesn't eat sugar and she eats "Walsh Mix" for snack. Walsh mix is when I mix up raisins with raw almonds with a side of water or a Walsh Smoothie. The smoothie is strawberry and pineappled blended up with some whey protein.

She digs it and makes her happy while watching that athletes and she's being healthy. I'm so stoked.
