Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

I cant take it anymore

Lucabrasi - 9-25-2008 at 06:13 PM

I have had a toothache for the last week and a half and I need this tooth out of my mouth asap. Being as I don't have dental insurance Its gonna cost me about $300 for the x-ray and the tooth to come out. I have been chewing pills like crazy to get rid of the pain and I cannot sleep for more then 4 hours because I get woken up from the pain.

My mind is telling me to grab some pliers and pull the fucker out and save myself the $300 but It probably wouldn't be the best idea. I just don't know how much longer I can take this pain.:sniffle:

Siczine.com - 9-25-2008 at 07:16 PM

It sucks to be out $300 but you're going to have to do it eventually, it'll only get worse.

BDx13 - 9-25-2008 at 07:25 PM

only $300?
i'd say hurry up and do it!

Lucabrasi - 9-25-2008 at 07:43 PM

I would if I had $300. The soonest I would be able to get in is Tuesday morning. That is if I can come up with the money..

can the dentist bill you? Then you can send payments each month. I know that some do that for people with no insurance.

tie a string around it, tie the string around a door handle......

...then call you dentist and tell him your tooth is threating to commit suicide by hanging himself from the door handle if he's not taken out soon! and your dentist will have no choice...

that was the rest of the plan, right?

Jason the Magnificent - 9-26-2008 at 07:47 AM

I wouldn't fuck around with shit attached to your face. 90% of dentists are going to bill you, not everyone has dental insurance.

clevohardcore - 9-26-2008 at 09:17 AM

GEt that shit done

BDx13 - 9-26-2008 at 09:47 AM

tell them you don't have insurance when you make the appointment.
sometimes they'll cut you a break.

i don't have any right now, so when i see my doc, only charges me $50.
last time i was in, i told him i stopped taking this prescription, in part because i couldn't afford it.
so he sets me up with three months worth of samples.
awesome.

Dave - 9-26-2008 at 11:26 AM

my doc gave me a few months of samples once, because i didnt have the extra $$ for the pills.

my doc, is cool

Lucabrasi - 9-26-2008 at 02:44 PM

If I miss a premium payment for my meds I can get my meds on a sliding scale for really cheap. Problem is my insurance doesnt cover dental and since my primary dentist retired and his office is closed I have to look around for another one. I asked the lady at the place that could get me in the soonest and she said it had to be paid for upfront.

I spent a good amount of time lastnight with a pair of pliers in my mouth trying to wiggle the thing loose but it didnt work. Its the second molar from the back so its a big tooth and pretty well stuck in. Its also chipped so I couldnt get a good grip on it. I put the kybosh on that idea.

Regardless im going to have to suffer through the weekend because the soonest I can get in is Tuesday morning at 8.

defstarsteve - 9-26-2008 at 02:58 PM

I broke a tooth in the same area and it was only like 75.00 to get taken out
no need for x-rays...
just open, a little shot in the gum and pliers...
call other dentists and tell them all you need is a broken tooth extraction

Lucabrasi - 9-29-2008 at 03:53 AM

ok, I have just spent the last 4 hours with a horrible pain in my tooth and tried all kinds of home remedies to reduce the pain. Tomorrow I am taking the day off and getting this tooth out. I dont care if I have to pay $300 for it, its coming out tomorrow. Fuck work, they can find someone to cover for me. I cant deal with this for one more day.

BDx13 - 9-29-2008 at 07:26 AM

if work gives you crap, tell 'em to offer dental and it wont happen again.

Lucabrasi - 10-7-2008 at 03:58 AM

after 2 weeks of hell the tooth will be coming out in about 9 hours. It's 4 am and i'm up because of the tooth so I cant wait for this to be gone.

Lucabrasi - 10-7-2008 at 02:40 PM

Just got back from the dentist. What a pain in the ass tooth it was (my doctor said and I agree) I'm in a good amount of pain right now but I just took 2 hydrocodone pills so I should be out fairly soon. I'm glad this is over with

clevohardcore - 10-7-2008 at 03:58 PM

I don't know how ou put up with it for as long as you did. I would have been on the dentists doorstep begging for help and a financial break.

BDx13 - 10-7-2008 at 04:08 PM

glad to hear you got that sorted out.
hope ya feel better soon.
what it run ya?

Lucabrasi - 10-7-2008 at 04:39 PM

It cost $165 total for x-rays and removal. The place I had looked at before was going to run me about 130 for x-ray and $150 for the tooth extraction. Good thing I shopped around. The dentist was nice. I used to deliver the paper to his house when I was a kid so we knew each other well. I figured he would just take some pliers like tool and rip it out but there was a lot of deep gouging and twisting of the tooth and I though he was going to break my jaw because he was pulling so hard. It came out in a bunch of pieces and took about 20 minutes to extract. I'm just glad its over with.

Voodoobillyman - 10-7-2008 at 04:41 PM

damn man, sounds rough. I'm glad it's over for you

It was not fun to have to deal with the tooth for so long but I just didnt have the money to pay for it. I thought I did at the first of the month but had to pay rent (which I thought I had done) so it left me with about $85 to last me two weeks and it wasnt even enough to pay for the extraction. Luckly my mom put it on her card for me and even though she didnt say, i'll pay her back for it.

BDx13 - 10-7-2008 at 04:46 PM

165 doesn't seem bad for everything involved.
i'm sure it's a small price to pay as far as you're concerned!

Lucabrasi - 10-7-2008 at 04:49 PM

oh yeah. Even though it was painful I just keep thinking of how much better I would feel once it was out.

Oh and the Codine helps as well.
