Shamrock is going to get destroyed!

Discipline - 10-4-2008 at 11:15 PM

No Shamrock and Kimbo got schooled in a major way.

barc0debaby - 10-5-2008 at 12:36 AM

Well that was weak. Atleast the rest of the card is good.

Discipline - 10-5-2008 at 01:24 AM

That one chick was fucking hot. I forget her name but she beat the ugly chick with the big gap in her teeth.

DaveMoral - 10-5-2008 at 04:00 AM

I was flumoxed when I read that Kimbo got knocked out. Too bad for Shamrock, good news for this other guy. He'll be famous right quick.

Cung Le is someone to watch. He's basically the first dude that's trained in traditional Chinese martial arts and San Shou to crossover into the MMA arena. I got alot of hopes for this dude.

He's gonna be in the upcoming movie adaptation of fighting game franchise Tekken too.

Gina Carano

That's her. She is fucking sweet.

moron - 10-6-2008 at 06:08 PM

My wife swears that Gina has fake boobs and that's why she always has trouble making weight.

That chick she fought was kinda cute in a odd way. She didn't look cute at all while fighting... she looked like crap... but some other photos Ive seen of her made her look half decent. Im sure she could kick my ass though.

i'm at a friend's place and he has the fight on.

right as i'm leaving, they show Kimbo and say he's gonna fight.

it takes me 15 minutes to get home.

i get home, turn on the TV and tell my gf that this big bad ass, Mr. T looking dude is gonna fight.

we're smoking on the balcony and i'm hypin' it up good.

the fight comes on and Kimbo is taking death blows 10 seconds later.

4 seconds later it's over.

she looks at me like "oooh, wow".

my firend insists that Kimbo could've recovered.

i don't think so.

I think it shows that training is superior to raw street rumbling. Combine fight experience and fight talent with technique and you should be able to clean up any untrained brawler. This Seth cat was a 3rd rate MMA fighter at any rate, kinda says alot about Kimbo's place in things.

Kimbo seems like he could've recovered until you see the footage of him going for a single-leg on the ref after the ref jumped in the middle to stop it. I've seen that happen a few times where the guy doesn't necessarily look like he's done, but attacks the ref because he's so out of it that he doesn't know who's in front of him anymore.

And Dave, Cung Le has tons of skill, but I don't see him ever making a huge impact. I think he's already in his mid 30s (34?), even though he doesn't look like it at all... and I'm sure is under a multi-fight contract with Strikeforce (the Shamrock-Le fight was on card co-promoted by Strikeforce and EliteXC). I'd like to see him spend his last few fights in the UFC middleweight division. Not that I think Le would win, but Anderson Silva needs some new fights, since he's getting ready to clean out the division a second time.

DaveMoral - 10-8-2008 at 12:10 PM

Le's definitely been around a while with Strikeforce, but who knows. I think my excitement about him lay more because he's coming at the whole MMA world from a different training experience than 95% of the rest of those guys. He's primarily a san shou fighter, and that's all techniques from traditional Chinese martial arts which tend to get little respect in MMA circles. He's not got the best ground game, but the dude refuses to be suckered into going to the ground and prefers to fight it out... which is how he beat Shamrock and shattered the dude's forearm.

Sanshou's got plenty of throws too, they're just aimed at knock outs rather than takedowns to head into on the mat grappling and submission holds. That comes from shuai jiao, which is something like 3,000 years old.

I'm hoping more guys from a similar background as Cung Le will start showing up, and garner the much needed respect in MMA circles for Chinese martial arts.

I'm just happy that somebody showed that Kimbo isn't shit. Street fights on youtube doesn't mean you can be an MMA badass. The fact that it was a third-rate nobody that annhilated him makes it even more obvious.

What makes it all the more obvious is the fact that he got knocked the fuck out. If he got submitted, he could have saved some face.

But hey the dude may have knew he couldn't cut it from day one and knew he could cash in. Dude has made at least $1 million from all this. ($500,000 just from his last fight)

DaveMoral - 10-9-2008 at 12:12 AM

Yeah, you gotta give him some props for milking his "infamy" for all it was worth, for as long as it was worth anything. He may have indeed known he was in over his head from the get, his family's set though.
