This is a band that even when I was definitely SUPER into NYHC, never thought was very good.

i don't think they're good, per se.
but they are fun as shit.
i skated constantly as a kid and listened to a lot of token entry!
saw 'em once - they had one of those little jogging trampolines on stage people were flying left and right.

I saw Token Entry in Reading in '89 at a club with a ramp. It was awesome...

that's great...those first two records are classic!!!

I like Token Entry but never liked Leeway. They only had one or two tunes I liked.

I was way into Token Entry at one point. I think Weight Of The World kinda killed that for me. I can still look back on good memories of listening to Jaybird, but I haven't quite gotten to the point where I can go back and listen to it again.

Leeway, on the other hand, always sounded like the hair metal version of HC to me. Never had the slightest interest in hearing more than the handful of songs that I've heard from them. Their Zero Boys cover is truly horrendous.

I actually like their version of Civilization Dying.

If you think Leeway where the hair metal version of HC, I suggest checking out their Boston counterparts, Maelstrom. They make Leeway seem like Sheer Terror in comparison.

only went once...I was living in Doylestown and went with my bros from Cheap Skates: Sean Miller, Ben Miller, Barker Barrett, Rob Crowe, and Harry Barford...

I used to go to Jacksonwald skatepark all the time...lived in Upper Perkiomen Valley before D-town...

Oh I remember Maelstrom. When they came out I was buying just about everything that Taang put out. I'll admit that I can barely remember their sound, but I feel pretty confident in saying I'm more a fan of them than Leeway.

some of those names sound familiar.

Unisound was a club in Reading PA run by a guy named Jake Hain.
Right on the tracks, with shit-all nearby.
It was on the second floor of a warehouse, above something like a small engine repair shop or lawnmower store or something.

Inside, there was a halfpipe, some weird treehouse type thing and a snack bar.
The place was a deathtrap, though... people moshed straight through the floor more than once.

Shows every Fri & Sat night.
In hindsight, I can' believe I wasn't there every weekend.
I saw SO many great shows there... sick of it all, judge, no for an answer, gut instinct, vision, dmize, moondog, shelter, gorilla biscuits, edgewise and on and on and on.

franklo and lordactionwood and thorp have been there with me countless times.

Hmm, lemme put it another way then. At one point in time I actually enjoyed some Maelstrom stuff, I have NEVER enjoyed Leeway whatsoever. Wrecking Crew had a few songs I liked quite a bit and I'd put Eye For An Eye at about the same level as Burn. Neither of those last two bands put out enough for me to really form a full opinion of them, but they also never went downhill for the same reason.

Wrecking Crew had some good tunes, but overall, they were just sort of a bargain AF. Eye For An Eye were pretty awesome, and actually released more material than Burn, but I put that 7 inch as "essential listening."

Yeah, but Wrecking Crew fortunately split up long before following certain other bands into the trend of parodying themselves and releasing records that sound like they're ripping off Hatebreed ripping themselves off, if you follow....

Wrecking Crew were heavily influenced by AF and other New York bands but they never denied that. I love the early stuff. The stuff with Nathan on vocals wasn't as good.

I like the second Big Block CD more than anything WC did, anyway.

The only WC cd I have is the retrospective put out by Bridge 9, but I think it might be on there. I can't remember off the top of my head.
