Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

I know its like 20 years plus since they wrote tunes but were the DEAD KENNEDYS

actually right? When I first heard them I thought wow back in 1988. Around 1990 got more into hardcore and less of the punk shit. Been that way since. Now that I am going back and jamming out what I have neglected I am thinking.

As a youngster I thought Jello was super smart and whatever.

As I grew up I saw his ideals as pathetic and weak. Liberal conformist bullshit.

As an adult I know I am conservative. That is who I am but I still see things as they should be and many things must be socialistic or more in favor of people benefiting. People need help and the most at the bottom need help. And the fucks at the top need an ass kicking.

Now to my point.............. As the things that have happened in the US over the past 8 years I never thought would happen. Seriously, a real conservative President would not give more to the rich and take away form the struggling. That is not the essence of what is preached. If you work hard it will pay off. Nothing is easy and nothing is handed to you. You have to go and get it.

Well our president and government gave BILLIONS away of you money to bail out banks, airlines, and military funded companies that profit right in front of us. Things were hidden but when caught they were as a matter of fact about it. This is what we did and so what. Its wrong. Government has grown during and administration that swore to shrink government. They win and we gave in without a fight. Without question.

And so to my point again............. Was Jello right?

His paranoia, his apprehension, his exaggerations, I always thought were annoying, but maybe he was on to something.

jello rules
i dont agree with everything he has had to say but he always had the balls to stand up and speak out fo what he believes in
which is something lacking with alot of people today

and dead kennedys ruled then and still do

I had a tape for BEDTIME and IN GOD WE TRUST. That was it. I lost them over time and never bought them on cd. A friend lent me CONVENIENCE, IN GOD, PLASTIC SURGERY, and FRANKENCHRIST. Jamming it out and enjoying it. I remember having the toilet (whatever) spoken word tape and watching a live vhs of theres back in 89. i'd like to get that on dvd. Got to listen to more of this shit.

I'm a huge Jello fan, although I disagree with many of the things he says or believes in. I saw him live doing spoken word and two things really stuck with me from that performance. First was how passionate he was about what he was saying and it was somewhat infectious. The other thing that really stuck out was that he said more than once to not take his word on everythig he was saying. He continually told people to go read up everything they could find on a given subject and form their own opinions, regardless of whether or not you ended up agreeing with him or not. He didn't want people to take his word as gospel, but as a basis for further self-education which is something most people don't encourage their listeners to do.

^^^^^^ I saw some documentary years ago with Jello in it and he was saying the same thing, but it was somewhat suprising of his hippie background. He was a huge hippie then became punk. Its all about the times I guess.

He started as a total hippie in his younger years. He did a bit about that when I saw him and it was fucking hysterical. Unfortunately, to my recollection, it's not on any of the spoken word releases.

My favorite DK album has always been In God We Trust Inc. One of the best hardcore records ever. After that I go with Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables.
