Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

today the world is looking on you, america

panzerkreuzer - 11-4-2008 at 08:28 AM

goodbye mr. bush.
if i believe the german media obama will definately be your next president.
let us see what really will happen, i´m quite excited...
will you guys go voting?

Jason the Magnificent - 11-4-2008 at 10:36 AM

Weeks ago. I imagine by the end of the day the world will be welcoming Chicago politics on a national scale.

joemaconmovies - 11-4-2008 at 11:12 AM

i voted via absentee ballot last weekend.

clevohardcore - 11-4-2008 at 11:18 AM

Voting tonight. Its a long wait in my area. Many people that usually don't vote are voting. Get ready for a shitload of annoyances from the black american population. It is already happening around my schools campus. Wearing shirts with OBAMA looking angry on the front with the words "It is OUR time" on the back. Fucking moronic.

joemaconmovies - 11-4-2008 at 11:27 AM

why such a long wait to vote? i'm curious. i know you said people that don't vote are voting but is there only like one voting area for a large population or something like that?

defstarsteve - 11-4-2008 at 11:28 AM

since CA is a guarentee for obama

I voted absentee in texas
try to get as many blue votes there as we can
and my wife voted in PA

joemaconmovies - 11-4-2008 at 11:31 AM

i "threw my vote away" to make a point. it's better then me not voting at all, which i almost did. now i'm glad i did cause i'm sick of people telling me how to vote on facebook and shit.

Voodoobillyman - 11-4-2008 at 12:08 PM

going a little later this afternoon

I'm actually hoping in the long run this will end up providing an end to excuses for young black men blaming their problems on "the system" If a black man can become the leader of the free world, they need to stop crutching and do something productive. I hope that will be the long term outcome from this election.

CR83 - 11-4-2008 at 12:26 PM

Voted this morning. The line was split from a-l and m-z. I was in the m-z. It was only about 15% of the other line. Really quick. Good experience. I had my daughter with me. She was having fun while we "rocked the vote".

this is a good statement, but i think people who have no interest in doing something productive will always find someone to blame.

that goes without saying but it would put a real fucking damper on any point they tried to make.

BKT - 11-4-2008 at 12:45 PM

A black man? Does anyone out there realize that Obama is half white?

it's pretty obvious and been pointed out but it's the closest to a black person getting in that's ever happened in this country, half or not

BDx13 - 11-4-2008 at 12:54 PM

just got back from voting for that one.
pa is another battleground state, so i'll be happy when the commercials are done running.

MikeCore - 11-4-2008 at 01:11 PM

I still find it funny that here in the 21st century with all the information available on so may different platforms people still believe what these politicians tell them. I can understand people want a 'change' and I dislike GW as much as the next guy but both Obama and McCain will destroy this country faster than GW did. If Obama wins, which he probably will, it is a VERY real possibility that business in this country, as we know it, will come to a screeching halt from his support of the 'Employee Free Choice Act' to his potential policies on taxing new/existing coal plants out of business. If you didn't know this, coal is Americas most precious resource and is actually driving the electricity that is allowing us to post here on this board. I'm all for developing new/alternative fuels but it needs to be done in a way that keeps business moving.

If McCain wins we get instant war and probably a draft. The draft boards have been re-opened and fully staffed for a few years now. Actually, according to Colin Powell, Joe Biden, Madelin Albright(sp?) and others Obama will be 'tested' early on so I am pretty sure we are going to get war either way. And yeah, if black people think it's 'their time' it just might be their time to get drafted into WW IV. The Bilderbergers(sp?) are hedging their bets on this election by having their people back both candidates, which they have been doing for the last 50 years or so. Hopefully I'm wrong and we'll all live happily ever after but I doubt it.

/rant

joemaconmovies - 11-4-2008 at 01:16 PM

wouldn't this be WWIII, not WWIV? i don't remember having a WWIII.

The Cold War was WWIII....WWIV will be the real one.

Discipline - 11-4-2008 at 01:21 PM

I still think Jello Biafra was right on the money when he said there should be a choice of "No Confidence" on voting ballots. If that garners higher votes you have a new election with all new candidates.

joemaconmovies - 11-4-2008 at 01:22 PM

the cold war was just america vs. russia, wasn't it? was england involved? i'm not sure if the cold war counts

BKT - 11-4-2008 at 01:27 PM

No the Cold War does not count.

MM.

joemaconmovies - 11-4-2008 at 01:29 PM

i didn't think so.

I disagree but it doesn't matter, we're getting war either way.

Jason the Magnificent - 11-4-2008 at 01:30 PM

haha, you can't just make up something being WWIII.

XHonusWagnerX - 11-4-2008 at 01:34 PM

Im gonna vote after work.

I wonder what would happen if someone went to vote dressed like Hitler? That would be interesting to see on film.

side note: Didnt Carnivore have a song called "World War II & III"

MikeCore - 11-4-2008 at 02:11 PM

Ok, back to the 21st century information and w/o out having to even get out of my chair:

Code:
The Cold War was the state of conflict, tension and competition that existed between the United States (US) and the Soviet Union (USSR) [b]and their respective allies[/b] from the mid-1940s to the early 1990s. Throughout this period, rivalry between the two superpowers was expressed through military coalitions, propaganda, espionage, weapons development, industrial advances, and competitive technological development, e.g., the space race. Both superpowers engaged in costly defence spending, a massive conventional and nuclear arms race, and [b]numerous proxy wars.[/b]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_War

Call it what you like but in the immortal words of Six Feet Under, "WAR IS COMMMMMMMMMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!"

Siczine.com - 11-4-2008 at 02:11 PM

Both candidates have lied but McCain lied more and even was quoted saying he can lie to the general public as much as he wants because of the first amendment.

Is Obama perfect, no. Am I worried he is full of shit, yes. But I KNOW McCain is full of shit, and Nader doesn't stand a chance. So I am not throwing away my vote to give McCain a chance. Shit McCain would rather have you vote independent than Obama.

And Mikecore, McCain would do more damage to economy than Obama. McCain wants to further what Bush did, keep the money in the hands of the rich.

in mass. it doesn't matter, cause obama will win anyways. so i voted for nadar to send a message.

DAK - 11-4-2008 at 02:29 PM

I voted this morning.

Mark Lind - 11-4-2008 at 04:00 PM

Joe, what message was it that you were trying to send in voting for Nadar?

African Americans have every reason and every right to be excited about Obama as a candidate. This is representative government and they are barely ever represented.

Obama himself has pointed out what the black community can do if they put their minds and energy to it. But anyone that thinks any ole brotha can just up and become the next President is only fooling themself. Institutional racism is real and if you're born black then you're at a disadvantage. I know lots of white people like to disagree with that because it makes them feel better but it really is true. Obama getting elected doesn't mean anything to that whole community. Maybe it will instill a sense of hope and inspire some people but that's about all it can really do.

The Cold War was not WW3. It was a period of time where two superpowers diplomatically (and sometimes not diplomatically) jockeyed for power, ideology and influence.

I don't see any logic behind the idea that an Obama victory will be bad for business in this country. What makes you think that aside from Republican sound bytes?

The President of the USA is the leader of the free world in theory. I would support opening up the election to citizens of other countries someday as long as we remain so influential (which may be over with the economic crisis). Some of the idiots in the US choose their candidate based on the superficial of reasons. I'd trust the votes of people all over Europe and beyond more than most of the people in this country. It won't happen in our lifetimes but maybe some day.

I agree with mark on this stuff. Especially the bits about African Americans and institutional racism.

I've said my peice on the topic a million times, so I'm not going to go on about it again.

the message i'm trying to send is that i'm sick of the two party system. simple. i don't care if you agree with me or like it or not. i didn't want to vote for obama or mcccain and instead of not voting, i voted for nadar
