How long did you wait in line to vote?

BDx13 - 11-4-2008 at 01:04 PM

Just curious what people are encountering across the country.

(reposted w/ absentee option. thanks, joe!)

BDx13 - 11-4-2008 at 01:04 PM

got to our local polling place around 10:30.
we were about 40th in line, but it was 60-70 deep by the time we got inside.
(that's counting just voters, not all the kids.)
still, we were in and out in about 30 minutes.
people working there said the early morning line was easily twice as long.

thanks bd

i have no experiences with your elections, but how was the situation the ones before. you all sound that there go lots of people more voting this year .

Discipline - 11-4-2008 at 01:17 PM

When we voted last month I was in and out. No waiting.

i think this is a big election because no matter who wins, history is made. either the first black president or the first female vice-president.

morgan - 11-4-2008 at 01:58 PM

Honestly I couldn't bring myself to vote for either McCain or Obama.

Siczine.com - 11-4-2008 at 02:05 PM

If you don't vote, at all, then as far as I'm concerned you have no right to complain about things.

I went early, and as soon as I got there I voted. So it wasn't even 5 minutes.

Jason the Magnificent - 11-4-2008 at 02:09 PM

Voted 2 weeks ago, walked right in.

Exactly.

DAK - 11-4-2008 at 02:33 PM

I walked straight in and voted, no wait. And it was electronical.

barc0debaby - 11-4-2008 at 03:27 PM

I am not able to vote this year. Finally got myself registered and was denied due to military bueracracy.

moron - 11-4-2008 at 03:30 PM

I tend to put things off, and unfortunately I put off registering to vote a little too long. Needless to say, I can't vote today. My wife was mad at me, and I'm bummed too. The only positive is that CT isn't a battleground state and I would have voted for Obama anyway. I'm missing out on some CT-related stuff though.

Both of those factoids are meaningless in this election. It's historic because we can vote for the beginning of the end (unless you consider GWB to have already started that) or a new beginning. The color of Obama's skin and Palin's lack of a penis don't add up to squat. Her lack of a brain does though.

MarkV - 11-4-2008 at 04:24 PM

Didn't wait at all. Walked in, got my name checked off, went through the ballot, put it in the box, and left. 5-10 minutes tops.

Furly - 11-4-2008 at 05:43 PM

3rd person in line when I got there, 5 minutes.

CR83 - 11-4-2008 at 05:59 PM

30 minutes and had my 4 year old with me. She told people she was there to "Rock The Vote". Made me proud.

BDx13 - 11-4-2008 at 06:17 PM

that's rad, cr.

my 4yo decided she wanted to be pennsylvania auditor general and started asking everyone in line to vote for her.

DaveMoral - 11-4-2008 at 06:21 PM

Oregon does a mail-in vote. I dropped my ballot in the mail last week.

it may not add up but it's historic for the reasons i said because either way it will be the first time in history for the reasons i said. sorry you don't agree but it's true no matter how much you say otherwise.

what exactly do you mean? I know of nothing the military can do to get in the way of your vote. Asd a matter of fact in my almost decade with the Navy they have been very pro voting and do everything they can to support it's members being able to do so. No offense, but it seems you didn't belong in the military in the first place.

DaveMoral - 11-4-2008 at 06:31 PM

^Primarily. Some people wait until Nov 4, but for the most part it's all done mail-in. At least, that's how I understand it. I don't know anyone that's going to polls today.

Voodoobillyman - 11-4-2008 at 06:32 PM

my wife and I were both in and out in mere minutes. No wait

XHonusWagnerX - 11-4-2008 at 08:31 PM

Oh yeah... I picked 5 minutes on the poll, but there was really no wait at all.

There were a couple of state/local elections that I didnt vote on because they were uncontested. There was one for School Comitee or something where it said 'vote for up to 7' and there was only 7 names so I didnt vote on that one either.

This might be the first year that I actually read and voted on all the questions. I think I voted democratic in the elections, but rebublican on the questions because I voted against most of the ones that were about spending money on stuff that I didnt feel the city needed.

For Mayor I was going to vote for the Democrat, plus he came door to door at my house, but Im usually a sucker for whoever is actually standing outside the polling place when I go to vote. The guy outside was an indipendent so I voted for him.

That as my voting experience.
