Last night when the wife and I were dealing with the almost every night struggle with putting out son to bed. He asked for a hug and while I held him I thought one day I am going to miss doing this. It made it that much more important. Best hug ever.

When my nephew was younger, before I would leave his house we would face each other, hold hands, and he would use his feet to climb me, when he got to my waist he would jump and I would catch him in a big hug.

Now he's 12 and about as tall as my shoulders, we tried to do it just last week, I almost broke my back.

but, I will always be my baby, even when he finally beats me at mercy.

Ours goes down for the night relatively easy (thank you routine). She's 4.5 years old. In about 7 years she is not even going to talk to me. I understand why and will be bummed out but I know she'll be back. I tell her, the dog and Mrs. R83 I love them every chance I get.
