Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Slapshot @ Anchors Up!

XHonusWagnerX - 11-12-2008 at 10:52 AM

I know Shawn Refuse & Furly were there. I also saw a couple of people that I know from when I worked at the Newbury Comics warehouse, but was anyone else that reads the board there?

I know that some people were bummed out that Seth from AC sang 'Step On It', but I thought it was great. I would love to hear him do a record of all covers! The music at its original speed or close to it but with his vocals the way he sings in AC.

My only dissapointment in the show was that they didnt play Chunks, but maybe next time.

Oh yeah... and the humidity! The last show I did merch for was in Florida in July in a flat roof building with almost no windows/ventilation and last weekend it was almost as hot in there!

oh yeah... these were in the thread about merch, but here are all the photo links incase anyone that wants to didnt check them out.

It was a pretty good show, F ing hot! Probably the hottest or at least top 3 hottest shows we have ever played.

If it wasn't for the nonsense at the end of the night it would have been great.

XHonusWagnerX - 11-12-2008 at 01:39 PM

what nonsense?

side note: I just saw that one of the shows in December is with Sick of it All, H2O, Discipline and some other bands as part of the Persistance tour.

The show was fucking awesome! I had a great time. And ofcourse, it's always great to see Honus and Shawn.

Seth was great! It was a little sad to see how much pain the guy was in. At one point while kids were dancing he got knocked into and almost fell into the drum set, but Choke grabbed him and helped him along threw the rest of the song.

Yeah, it was hot as fuck in there! But shit happens. I know the amount of money that has been poured into the club by the building owners, and the Anchors Up runners, and understand the luxury of being able to breath during a show is just a luxury they can't afford right now.

I've seen Seth do Step On It a couple of times. I'm surprised people were surprised.

I wouldn't say people were perticularly surprised. I think what surprised me the most was that not a lot of people were really going crazy for how amazing it was.

By the way, what nonsense did I miss? I didn't notice any fights or anything. I thought everything went well.

The management was changed mid show.

I bet that it is if the bands playing are not part of the 'in crowd'

joemaconmovies - 11-14-2008 at 10:10 AM

what's with the secrecy? most of us weren't there and even those that were, furly, have no clue as to the goings on.

ShawnRefuse - 11-14-2008 at 11:16 AM

We haven't played there before, but it is a reason I usually book my bigger shows at places with good security. I've yet to have a problem...Knock on wood.

I had the same feeling and made a joke about it in the other Slapshot thread. My impression is that some group of people - maybe an official "crew" or maybe just a bunch of tough guys - decided to regulate the crowd on their own terms instead of letting club security handle any issues (or, more likely in my experience, to create new issues and not let security intervene).

i kinda borrowed your joke cause it was a good one. i just added a little of my own flava. but you're probably right. i could guess at the problem but i don't wanna assume and be wrong. that could start it's own issues.
