I hate Brock Lesnar and his cock sword tattoo.

BKT - 11-16-2008 at 12:43 PM

I don't even want to talk about this.

random - 11-16-2008 at 01:14 PM

I understand about the main event, but the guy has always has been legit. He might be an asshole, but he's got a hell of a lot of skill, prior career choices aside. But I really liked the fights. Hazelett-McCrory was the highlight for me, but all the fights were action-packed. This was one of the best PPV events in recent memory.

barc0debaby - 11-16-2008 at 03:46 PM

I want to see Lesnar and Fedor.

fuck him fuck him fuck him
i want fedor to come in and break his fucking head in about 40 seconds of the first round

thats all i have to say about this
i will talk no more on it
im gonna have a hard time even watching ufc for a while

random - 11-16-2008 at 07:05 PM

Is this all because the guy was a pro wrestler for a while?

The guy was a beast as a wrestler in college. From Wikipedia: Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Conference Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.

He quit being a pro wrestler to try his hand at pro football.... despite never playing football in high school or college. He walked into practice for the Vikings. They cut him before the season started but also offered to let him play in NFL Europe. How many people are so fucking athletic and monstrous that they can pick up a new sport and get an offer to play pro almost overnight?

Yeah, fine. He was a pro wrestler. It's fake. But he still fucked up Captain America last night. I thought the hammer-fists on a downed Randy didn't look like they'd do much, but Randy already said he was out cold from the punch that dropped him.

Lesnar's legit. Once upon a time, Kurt Angle was legit... before a couple of neck surgeries and some substance problems. Beyond that, I know of no pro wrestlers who will possibly make an impact in MMA. The only exception is going to be the guys who were legit college wrestlers prior to going "pro".

Oh, and Lesnar and Angle are both douchebags, but I think part of that is to gain public interest like they did/do in pro wrestling. Phil Baroni is guilty of that shit in MMA.

MarkV - 11-16-2008 at 07:27 PM

I totally agree with Random. So he was in the WWF? He walked out at the peak of super stardom to try a new sport. That takes some serious balls.
He's said in interviews if the UFC was more established when he came out of college, he probably would have gone straight there.
I don't see how he's a much bigger douche bag than a large portion of pro MMA fighters. We're talking about a sport where bad tattoos and raised pick ups are rampant.

joemaconmovies - 11-16-2008 at 10:55 PM

lesnar couldn't breathe in the first round. i think he's fucked. i don't like him either and it's not cause he was a pro wrestler cause i'm a pro wrestling fan. i just never liked him and he won't hold that belt for long.

MarkV - 11-17-2008 at 02:05 AM

Was he winded? He seems in great cardio condition.

MarkV - 11-17-2008 at 05:04 AM

I finally watched it. He was winded in that first round, but didn't seem to be sucking wind during the break, and was OK in the second. He's a smart fighter, and has improved his faults between fights. I'm sure the cardio thing will be a huge emphasis, as well as the time he took to capitalize on big hits.

Voodoobillyman - 11-17-2008 at 11:32 AM

He needs to prove he deserves the title by beating on someone besides a senior citizen.

MarkV - 11-17-2008 at 04:34 PM

I'd agree with that, if the senior citizen wasn't Couture. He's obviously not at the top of his game, but he's no Mr Magoo, by far.

bombidol - 11-17-2008 at 04:54 PM

This is all the same bullshit people said about all the new rising stars. "yeah he beat couture but that dudes busted, wait till they put him against X(insert favourite fighter here)"
I dont know the bloke, I dont know what hes like. He might come across as cocky but hes young and at his 4th MMA fight hes now the world heavyweight champion. Dude, if I found 20 dollars on the ground I'd be cocky for the rest of the day. Imagine what he feels like.
Guy is a legit hard man, hes a giant fucking killing machine. All it means is that we have some great fights coming up when they start throwing more hard men at him.

gavin - 11-17-2008 at 06:10 PM

im not one who says shit about dudes starting out
im a huge kimbo supporter for that matter

i dont like lesnar
period
not cuz he was in wwe
im a huge wrestling fan
not cuz he's cocky
i like that kind of shit talkin
one of the reasons i was and am such a huge tank fan
i just dont like him
no real reason for it

and i KNOW fedor would murder him
if ya aint hip to fedor, youz really should check him out

bombidol - 11-17-2008 at 06:59 PM

Fedor is amazing but if we could find someone to test Lesnars chin before hand a Lesnar/Fedor fight would do millions.

true
it goes back to the ufc heavyweight div. lacking
which is really why lesnar got the shot this soon in

Discipline - 11-17-2008 at 07:29 PM

My only problem with Lesnar is that he's a whiner if things don't go his way. Beyond that, it's obvious he's been training his ass off and working hard to prove he's a legit fighter.

MarkV - 11-17-2008 at 08:22 PM

Fedor is still not contracted to UFC, right?

bombidol - 11-17-2008 at 08:58 PM

Fuckin Cro Cop vs Lesnar. I want to see that badly.

nah not yet
i read a recent interview with dana where he said he was going to do everything in his power to set up fedor vs randy cuz its a fight that needs to happen.
he seems to have changed his tune a bit reguarding fedor.
i guess time will tell.
if affliction goes under like many are predicting, maybe it will indeed happen

Cro Cop has seen his day in the spotlight. Lesnar would kill him now.

random - 11-18-2008 at 07:21 PM

Couple of responses to the thread...

Fedor-Lesnar might do millions in Japan, but not the US. Japan loves Fedor and freakshow fights (i.e. Lesnar), plus I think Lesnar did some pro wrestling in Japan. In the US, nobody but real MMA fans have a clue who Fedor is, aside from the commercials in the last EliteXC show on CBS.

Fedor-Arlovski is happening in January for Affliction. We're starting to see the old school Arlovski again, and this should be an awesome fight. Arlovski had a few shitty, boring fights there where he went for decision victories, but he's coming back. Should be good.

Fedor just lost for the first time in, I think, eight years. In sambo. Dude is unreal.

Cro Cop today isn't exciting. Gonzaga ruined that guy. If the old CC comes back like the old Arlovski, great. Otherwise, I can do without. He's one of those guys who got KTFO once and was never the same. It's sad, too, when he was the second- or third-best fighter in the world not too long ago.

gavin - 11-18-2008 at 07:27 PM

agreed except for the fact that dana is the modern day vince macmann
the ufc hype machine is huge
they could build up fedor in a matter of weeks and make fedor vs anyone really the biggest fights they have ever had

fedor vs aa is gonna be killer
i honestly hope what i have read about affliction is not true and i hope they pull through with that card
cuz i also heard aleks is cleared to fight on this one and he is my all time fav. fighter

random - 11-18-2008 at 07:39 PM

yeah, i'm real happy the rumors about aleks having hep b were bullshit. those came around when CSAC pulled him from a fight right before he went out for the weigh-in.

i'd like to see affliction make at least two more cards. i want fedor-aa. then i want fedor-barnett. after that, they can collapse, and the ufc can pick up all the contracts. but those two fights need to happen, and i agree about aleks... and he shouldn't keep fighting on these cards nobody sees. except for the ones in russia... i got not problem with him fighting in front of his fellow countrymen.

oh, and i forgot that ufc bought pride and got the video catalog, so you're totally right about the hype machine. but that's also why dana bashes him... because it makes fedor look bad now. but dana also knows the hype machine works the other way and can make it all better if they ever sign fedor.

MarkV - 11-18-2008 at 08:24 PM

Dana White definitely learned from watching McMahon, no doubt.

joemaconmovies - 11-19-2008 at 10:41 AM

the look on lesnar's face to me looked liked he was exhausted during the second round while randy didn't look tired. this may be the way i saw it but it looked like randy took a step backwards, tripped, and that's how lesnar got on top of him. that's how it looked. maybe i'm wrong

you're 100% right

bottom line is anyone can get knocked out at any time
randy got caught
it happens

im curious what would have happened if it went into later rounds

BKT - 11-19-2008 at 12:03 PM

Randy would have won if it went into later rounds.

Wasn't that a few seconds after Lesner caught him with an elbow.

i dunno. i don't wanna go back and check cause the video kept on reloading every few seconds. it didn't look like that but maybe i missed it. randy looked ok but then looked like he tripped. lesnar was definitely looked like he could barely breath.

MarkV - 11-19-2008 at 03:37 PM

Yeah, I had the same trouble with the video, so I only watched it once (I think Sunday) and just rewound a couple points.
I think Lesner connected with an elbow, Couture took a couple of steps and tripped/fell.

joemaconmovies - 11-19-2008 at 03:49 PM

could be. i know lesnar hit him with a hard elbow, i just don't remember when.
