Shit Fuck

DAK - 11-17-2008 at 07:34 PM

I just had to have my cat put to sleep. She had cancer removed about 6 months ago and I noticed yesterday she was having trouble breathing. Took her to the vet today and her lungs were full of cancer. Fuck that was hard.

She's beautiful. Sorry for your loss.

The only animal I ever lost that I was close with was a cat we got when I was little, died when I was 16.
The cat I have now, I've had since then. I've told her she has to outlive me.

I have a ferret that was sick a few months ago and I was really stressing over it. Losing an animal is really hard even if you dont think it will be.

Take care Dak.

clevohardcore - 11-18-2008 at 09:05 AM

I am sorry to read this. Really beautiful cat. I know how tough that is.

CR83 - 11-18-2008 at 09:47 AM

Stay strong DAK. You did the right thing and it is hard I know. Just hang in there.

I think it's so worth it. I just had to clean a gross slimey hair ball the size of a turd off my leather couch, but it's still worth it.

moron - 11-18-2008 at 05:18 PM

Sorry to hear about your cat.

I love cats. Even when they scratch my leather chair to shreds.

And this thread made me think of cats that I've had over the years. I don't think I've actually been witness to a single one's final moments. My mother and step-father told me about the final moments of my favorite cat. I was away at school, and she died in her bed next to my mom. Just slowly drifting away. Im both sad and glad I wasn't there.

I have 3. Had to put one to sleep back in Feb. He was 10 or 11. Got sick pretty quickly. Turned out to be a liver condition, which is odd, since I'm a drunk and he stayed away from the sauce. Anyway, we were there when they put him down. It was really sad.
We volunteer at a no kill shelter in Hollywood, and adopted a new dude a few weeks later. It helped. This guy's kind of a terrorist though.
