Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

can't open itunes.

What the hell. I click on the icon and I get a message that says

" itunes application can't be opened. A required itunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall quicktime. (-42404)

I have tried to repair and reinstall but it wont complete for some reason. It really fucking sucks not being able to access my music library. Anyone got any ideas? I have no idea why this happened. I noticed it this morning when I turned the computer on.

I was gonna say bro, if you didn't have shit luck with itunes, you wouldn't have any luck at all with it. Crazy, what would your alternative be? I don't know what i would do without my itunes now that I have learned how to use it and have invested so much time and effort into it. I highly recommend getting an external back up drive and backing your library up to it just in case you have any other issues the library will be safe and ready to reinstall.

^^^^^^^^^^ What a good one? I have never used or bought one before. Also, I have roughly 30 some GB of music and it is expanding.

You can get external hard drives in various sizes and if you only want to put your itunes library on it you can get a relatively small one for a decent price. I recommend getting a 250GB external hard drive with USB connection. It is real easy to use and trust me I should know I am HORRIBLE with computers. It basically walks you through the back ups and such, very user friendly and well worth the piece of mind you get knowing your music library is safe and sound. I also use mine to back up digital photos and other things we can not afford to lose should our computer fall on bad times. I can't recommend enough. Just go to best buy and search for external hard drives and it will give you an idea of whats available and at what cost. i hope this helps bro.

I just picked one of these up a couple weeks ago....has over 100gb of music on it and I keep it at work now. I'll probably update it every couple months. Plug it in and drag your music into it. Easy as hell and pretty cheap. Good for about 40,000 songs.

BRO!!!!!!!! After all the convo this morning about this, i got home and went to fire up my itunes and the bitch gave me the same goddamn trouble. What a mother fucker! I had to uninstall and then download and reinstall quicktime to get it working right again. I'm telling you, get an external drive and back up your library. It is SO worth it.

I know its crazy isn't it? Shit has happened b4 and i have no idea what causes it. The only thing I can think of is when it wants to update and you do update it might not complete correctly or something.

Yeah I think if you fall behind on quicktime updates, you will have to manually go in and install them. crazy shit that I can't even begin to understand fully.
