Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

XnMeX, we need an update!

BDx13 - 11-25-2008 at 06:46 PM

how's the weight?
how have you been feeling?
how's your girlfriend doing?

Spoiler - 11-25-2008 at 08:30 PM

yes,I was curious about this too.
I have a dude at work who is thinking of having that operation, and I was telling him about Monty.

Discipline - 11-25-2008 at 11:30 PM

He's got some pics on his myspace. He doesn't even look like the same person, it's incredible how much weight he's lost.

XnMeX - 11-27-2008 at 12:33 AM

Highest weight ever was arounf 460lbs
Current weight is around 240lbs

So, I lost over 200lbs and am still losing. a little bit.

I fit into all 2xl shirts now and some xl shirts (which is my goal). If I had this annoying skin removed I would fit into XL with no problem.

/\ you can see how loose my arm skin is in this one! lol

and for good measure, here are 2 older pictures...

Also, found this one on the cell phone and I think this is the "biggest" picture of me I have...

Voodoobillyman - 11-27-2008 at 02:45 AM

good on you bro!!! damn, you lookin fine

random - 11-27-2008 at 05:30 AM

holy shit, man, you look like an entirely different person. glad the surgery is working out positively for you.

bombidol - 11-27-2008 at 07:08 AM

Holy fucking shit cock. Doin well bro!

clevohardcore - 11-27-2008 at 09:05 AM

WOW. Did you have knee problems before? Has it gone away since you dropped the weight? Amazing. Simply amazing bro.

Dave - 11-27-2008 at 09:09 AM

WOW, that is fucking wicked, i love the one where you have both legs in one leg of your pants......

now you have to make a new signature photo. put a skinny you in there

XnMeX - 11-27-2008 at 01:07 PM

Thanks for all the "props". My fiance got the surgery done a few months ago and is doing great as well.

As for knee problems, amazingly I never had them. BACK problems I had and that has gone away. I had REALLY high blood pressure, in the stage 2 hypertension level and now I have normal / slightly below normal blood pressure. My ass hurts more now because all the "padding" is gone.

Mark Lind - 11-27-2008 at 01:23 PM

So do you need to go under the knife to deal with the extra skin?

DaveMoral - 11-27-2008 at 03:33 PM

Wow dude. Great to see these pictures bro. Congratulations.

XnMeX - 11-27-2008 at 04:04 PM

Yeah, if I want to feel/look "normal" I will have to get some skin removal

upyerbum - 11-27-2008 at 09:51 PM

That is fucking astounding. You've almost lost the equivalent of me, and I'm not a small guy. How tall are you? cuz you don't look like you're clockin' in at 240.

tireironsaint - 11-27-2008 at 10:21 PM

This is some seriously amazing shit! Are you having any kind of problems from the procedure or anything? If you were to show me pictures of the new and old you side by sid without any advance knowledge, I would never guess that they were pictures of someone from the same family, let alone the same person.

'Spose that costs as fortune huh?

Was your surgery covered by insurance and would skin removal be covered?

MarkV - 11-28-2008 at 03:41 AM

You def don't look 240, man. I'm about 210 right now (6'1" or so) and I'd guess you were my weight, if not less. Great job.
I'm new here, so this is the first I'm hearing. Did you get gastric bypass or lap band? My mom had gb 2 or 3 years ago. She'd lost some weight before I moved out to LA. First time back I was shocked by how skinny she was now. Trying to talk my old man into the surgery, as he's REALLY overweight, and it's taking a toll on him now that he's in his 60s.

Mark Lind - 11-28-2008 at 11:22 AM

Yeah..... he moves like he's less than 240 too. Last time Ducky Boys played in NH he jumped on the stage and grabbed the mic and he moved with more grace and dexterity than I do at 160.

No one's ever mistaken you for a gazelle.

XnMeX - 11-28-2008 at 10:11 PM

Hi!
This is Lori typing for Monty, since he can't type where he is right now... the hospital! :sniff:

He went to bed at 9:30pm last night with pretty bad stomach pains. Tossing & turning til 2am, he got up... well, tried to get up & walk to the bathroom, which he barely made it to. He was shivering, chattering his teeth but SWEATING. And his lips were as blue as if he were in a cold pool all day. I wrapped him up, went out and warmed-up my car and got him to the hospital.

Unfortunately, I had to go to work this morning or else I won't have been paid for yesterday's holiday off. With money being such an important thing lately, especially with the holidays, I had to make the hard decision to leave him for a few hours to go to work. But at least I was only working 8:30am - 12:30pm, so I was back at the hospital within a few hours.

Dr Gens removed his Gallbladder removed around 4pm and told me it should take only 1 hr or even less, but it ended up taking a solid 2 hours. Dr Gens told me that due to the amount of weight he's lost in a short period of time, his abdomen wasn't as "firm" as a "normal" abdomen was. I told him, "It's OK, you can say his abdomen is SQUISHY." Dr Gens liked that one :)

THANKFULLY it did not rupture, it was just very inflammed and full of Gall Stones. If it had ruptured, he would be in a worse situation.
He's resting comfortably in his hospital room for the night with his buddy, Mr. Morphene Drip.
I'll be bringing him home Saturday afternoon.

He specifically asked me to post up here to let you guys know that he's OK and he'll be back as soon as possible!

~Lori

random - 11-28-2008 at 10:18 PM

thanks for the update. glad it's not a worst-case scenario and that he's doing better now, even if "better" means in recovery with a morphine drip.

XnMeX - 11-28-2008 at 10:28 PM

Yea. He's not a fan of pain medication, so he uses his morphene drip sparingly.

gavin - 11-28-2008 at 10:32 PM

jesus
glad he's ok

Discipline - 11-28-2008 at 10:35 PM

Good to know he came out alright.

tireironsaint - 11-28-2008 at 11:15 PM

Thanks for the update and let him know we're all pulling for him.

Six66Mike - 11-29-2008 at 01:11 AM

Those weight loss pics are awesome. Good to hear he won't be in hospital for very long either, shitty place to be right after Thanksgiving I imagine.

newbreedbrian - 11-29-2008 at 01:31 AM

thanks very much for updating us. just a bump in the road, glad to hear everything is good

BDx13 - 11-29-2008 at 01:43 AM

XnMeX - 11-29-2008 at 12:42 PM

Update!

It appears that Monty has a blood infection from his Gallbladder. What this means is that bacteria from his inflammed Gallbladder got into his blood stream and has caused an infection of his blood.
This afternoon, he's going to have a Picc Line implanted into his upper arm (near the arm pit), which has a line that goes from the upper arm all the way to near his Heart. The line will deliver very potent Antibiotics right to where he needs it the most, his Heart.
Google image-search "Picc Line" and you'll get a better idea of what it looks like. Pretty icky if you ask me!

The doctors are telling him that he could spend 1 more night or he could be there longer. Apparently, this is one hell of a blood infection.
His temperature was 102.8 as of a few min ago when I talked to him on the phone

I'm heading to the hospital to see him very shortly, so I'll be sure to bring him some sweet sweet lovins from the Thorpe Board

Yeah it has.

Hope ya feel better Monty!

Voodoobillyman - 11-29-2008 at 05:43 PM

Thank you for keeping us up to date Lori, Monty bro, I know eventually you will get back and see this. We love ya bro, take care!!!!! Hope you get through this bullshit quick and with relatively no pain. We truly are pulling for you.

Furly - 11-29-2008 at 06:37 PM

that shit sucks! glad he's going home soon though, hope he's feeling better.

XnMeX - 11-29-2008 at 07:00 PM

You're welcome :)

Monty's on some heavy-duty Antibiotics, so he's all foggy & groggy in the head. He didn't even remember a 45 minute phone call with his friend last nite! haha

I might be able to bring him home tomorrow, but they won't discharge him until his temperature is normal. When he does come home, he'll still have the Picc Line in and a nurse will visit him once a day to administer the Antibiotics here at home.

He sends his love with this photo and quote:

"Straight-Edge my ass... I'm all drugged up!"

That's Monkey Face, his monkey buddy that I got him when he had his Gastric Bypass. I brought him in to keep Monty company :-P

DAK - 11-29-2008 at 07:31 PM

BDx13 - 11-30-2008 at 01:25 PM

stay strong...both of you!

Spoiler - 11-30-2008 at 01:40 PM

hope he's home and feeling better soon

upyerbum - 11-30-2008 at 01:52 PM

Damn, I hope this is an end to your complications. All the best.

Dave - 11-30-2008 at 05:18 PM

thanks for theupdates Lori, keep us informed.......

XnMeX - 11-30-2008 at 08:13 PM

Update!

Monty's STILL at the hospital. Dr Gens is keeping him there until his temperature stabilizes. While I was visiting him today, his temperature was 101, still too high to let him come home.
So, Dr Gens wants to keep him there at least another night and if his temperature stabilizes, he can come home Monday. If not, then it's another night at the hospital.
He looking & feeling better today. We went for a walk down the 4th floor hallways and we had Chicken Tenders for dinner. He also ordered Vegitarian Chili, thinking/hoping that it would just be chili minus the meat, but he was pissed because it had corn in it, so he didn't touch it :-P

It turns out the type of bacteria that came from his Gallbladder was E-Coli. A pretty rough bacterial blood infection.

~Lori

DaveMoral - 12-1-2008 at 03:20 AM

Best wishes to you and Monty Lori. Hope he gets well soon.

CR83 - 12-1-2008 at 04:59 PM

Monty, you skinny bastard, get well. We miss you around here and please be safe.

XnMeX - 12-2-2008 at 12:44 PM

UPDATE.... By Monty )

Yesa. I had Lori bring thte laptop on in since I am feeling better and had no idea when I was gonna go home and found out they have Wi-Fi here (last year they didn't). I am actually heading home today and getting the picc line taken out soon and switched to oral antibiotics. I am still quite tired so i'll make it short. Thanks for all the well wishes. Whenever anything like this goes down, I make sure Lori hit's up 2 places online and 2 places only... Here, and my myspace. What a rolloercoaster of a thread!

-Monty

BDx13 - 12-2-2008 at 01:00 PM

this was a wild fucking thread.

how common of an issue is this for people that have this surgery?
is something that has been on your doctor's radar as a possibility?

stay strong, monty.
you knew this wasn't going to be an easy ride.
even though most of the weight has been lost, you gotta remain diligent about your health.
it's fucking wonderful that you and lori have one another and are going through this together.

XnMeX - 12-2-2008 at 01:36 PM

Gallbladdder removal being needed by bypass patients is pretty common. My surgeone said the blood infection I got from it is quite rare. Lucky me! lol

BDx13 - 12-16-2008 at 01:56 AM

checking in on ya, buddy.
you back home now?
how ya feeling?
what do the docs say happens from here?

morgan - 12-16-2008 at 02:09 AM

Fuck can't believe I've managed to miss this. Hope your doing well. Taking care man.

XnMeX - 12-16-2008 at 07:25 AM

I should be all set now. Finished up the antibiotics a few days ago and feeling fine. Still can't do any real lifting of any kind for now. One thing that really sucks is the morning I went in to the nospital was the night of my 10 year high scholl reunion and I REALLY wanteds to go to it since I was the biggest kid in scholl back then and I am now very much below my high school weight.

Also, the day I got home my fiance gave me one of my christmas presents early...

I have wanted this shirt since it came out and now that I can fit into all 2xl shirts and even some xl shirts, it's all mine now!

XHonusWagnerX - 12-16-2008 at 08:33 AM

Definitly glad that you're doing better.... sucks about the reunion though. Keep taking care!

Thanks for the mention on the Podcast last week too! I was actually listening to it on the flight home Monday morning! :bouncing:

BDx13 - 12-16-2008 at 09:53 AM

glad to hear you're feeling better.
sounds like the rest of hte mending will happen over time.
take it easy and thank lori for us for all she does.

XnMeX - 12-23-2008 at 11:25 PM

Little update...

I had not weighed in for about 1 1/2 months and thought I had leveled out at 240 (which is fine for my height / frame) but I weighed in today and am at 225lbs. Insanity! I keep being pretty strict with my carb intake and sweets have been pretty much non existant.

My new years resolution is to be more active now. Build some muscle, etc. I hate the gym so I am trying to think of other stuff to do...

Find something you like. You watch MMA? Start doing BJJ. Swimming? Running? Whatever it is, find something. I hate the gym and have never been able to make myself go. Running with an iPod or doing BJJ... no problem, and I even get excited about the latter.

By the way, you now weigh less than me... asshole. :) Seriously, congrats on the progress. Keep it up!

BDx13 - 12-24-2008 at 01:26 AM

225.
amazing.

XnMeX - 12-24-2008 at 08:14 AM

What is BJJ?

barc0debaby - 12-24-2008 at 12:07 PM

BJJ is a great workout! And its a real confidence booster to learn how to mangle somebody.
