There's an old thread here somewhere, with a link to a trailer where someone put Ramallah over the existing trailer. Pretty sure it was unofficial and it probably made the rounds & got popular so they decided to add it in.

Pretty sure that was the official trailer, since I Scream (the publisher) sent out an announcement about a day after the trailer hit the internet.

Not asking for specifics but if a band lends a movie soundtrack a song do they get paid well for it? Or is it a bullshit idea of you get more exposure for the band kind of thing?

I was just wondering the same thing, what kind of royaltys come about from this? I know DM did real well after Shipping up to Boston made a Scorsese pic.

There's different ways to do it. Some bands will give songs for a lower flat rate, for like Clevo said, exposure and what not. Needless to say, someone like Slipknot isn't doing that. They probably got pretty decent sum, (which the label also gets a part of as they own the master recording), and then there's mechanical royalties, performance royalties, etc.

Here's a specific thing I can site, related to TV, which is similar, but a bit different than film. When I was running my own label, I had a few bands get songs on the DVDs of Party of Five. When the shows aired, they used real bands (let's just say Matchbox 20 for shits and giggles). When they put the DVDs out, and if they'd used Matchbox 20s songs, they'd have owed them money per unit sold, and there'd probably be some other deal work/contract worked out. What a lot of production companies do, is, remove the big artists and replace them with unknown but similar bands for a much smaller amount of money. So, rather than owing Matchbox a ton of money for the discs sold or whatever, they contact labels like mine (actually a music placement company we used) and offered something like 2500 bucks, which is chump change to them, but pretty decent for a small band and label, and it's good exposure for them.
That's also why you'll see smaller bands on shit like Dawson's Creek. They can just go to tiny band A and offer them a flat rate and never have to worry about future royalties. Where as, a band on Island is going to get more money, royalties for years, etc.
