Ditto. Can't sit through even one song.

moron - 12-5-2008 at 01:57 PM

I knew what this thread would say before clicking on it. I also figured Discipline would agree.

SS76 - 12-5-2008 at 02:13 PM

I hate them one cunthair less than I hate the Beatles.

CR83 - 12-5-2008 at 02:25 PM

I love Zep.

No love for the Beatles.

The Stones are rock n roll.

MM.

moron - 12-5-2008 at 03:00 PM

I like Led Zeppelin, but I understand why people don't like them.

Now the Beatles... I've heard all of their early popular songs and I like them for what they are but I don't own any of their music and I don't go out of my way to listen to them. I certainly don't hate them, mostly because I don't really know most of their music.

XHonusWagnerX - 12-5-2008 at 03:40 PM

i like very very few zeppelin songs and usually i like themmuch better when someone else covers them

Discipline - 12-5-2008 at 04:19 PM

JawnDiablo - 12-5-2008 at 05:19 PM

I hated Led Zep because going to UD High form 88-92 there was so many burnout kids still stuck in 1974 wearing zeplin and floyd shirts like it was current or somethin. Like if you smoked weed you had to love that band. Nah.
I just, well, never really liked Plant.
he shoulda kept his shirt on fer crisakes

Funny, I always thought Zeppelin sounded almost exactly like cats fuckin'. And just to throw my two cents in on the other bands be tossed about in here, I fucking HATE The Beatles, LOVE The Stones (pre-disco era anyway), can't stand any of Ozzy's bands, dig early Elvis a lot, and despise Rush.

panzerkreuzer - 12-5-2008 at 07:09 PM

clevohardcore - 12-5-2008 at 07:21 PM

I'd agree with that to some extent. Phenomenal band. Hate some killer stuff. But, a lot got too hobbit twiddlydee at times.

tireironsaint - 12-6-2008 at 01:43 AM

Yes Mark, there's some of us here with the sense to realize that Black Sabbath is fucking shit.
As for the comment that Led Zeppelin were great, the only thing they were ever great at is appropriating other people's music and not giving them any credit.

That's partially true (the Who, etc), but their playing was actually groundbreaking. As far as a bands' "playing ability" goes, there's been few at their level (including those who they appropriated from).

Sabbath is shit?? Really? Do you like anything that doesn't fall into "punk, hardcore or oi" categories?

tireironsaint - 12-6-2008 at 09:55 AM

I love tons of stuff that doesn't fall into those categories. In fact, here we are in a thread talking about bands well outside any of those genres. Yes, we're now discussing two that I can't stand, but my first post in this thread mentioned how much I love The Rolling Stones and Elvis. I also listen to a lot of Blues, just picked up an amazing Howlin' Wolf box set, actually. I have a lot of love for old Rock N Roll, Outlaw and/or Old School Country, Rockabilly, Ska/Reggae, and on and on.

While I fully realize that there are bands I love that claim a Sabbath influence, I can't stand the actual band myself. I understand the impact they had and can appreciate that, but the sum of the parts is hellishly annoying to me.

I love Sabbath with Ozzy, but after that they turned to shit.

I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming you're in your late 30s/early 40s? If so, that's all stuff I'd expect to find in the collection of an old oi boy/skin in that age group. (I actually should have included Johnny Cash/Rockabilly and ska as part of "oi" since it's so commonplace for skins.)

Enyo - 12-6-2008 at 11:05 PM

I'm 28 and I love Howlin' Wolf. :saint2:

Edited: because I can't type.

I don't know if it's your intention or not, but this comes off sounding really assholish and condescending, just like the majority of the posts you made right after you joined this board. Maybe you should take a look at how you talk to people and do something about this high horse riding, know it all motherfucker persona of yours. Just a thought, champ.

Enyo - 12-6-2008 at 11:26 PM

Well said. :)

Hmm, how do I respond to this, bub? Let's see....
First off, I don't really see how ANYTHING has changed since I joined here. My general attitude is pretty much always the same and my tone in posting (and in real life).

Second, I don't see much "assholish (nice creation of a word) and high horse riding" about what I posted. Would it have been better if I'd phrased it like this:
"Those are all somewhat logical musical continuations from the skinhead/oi boy scene as you mature. I should have included them in my original comment."
How's that, chief?

And maybe you should worry less about what someone on the internet says? But, I've had plenty of time to "think about how I speak to people," thanks for your concern, champ. It's worked well for 31 years (well, less than that since we don't speak for some time, but I digress) and your "suggestion" is "noted" and filed.

tireironsaint - 12-8-2008 at 12:59 AM

It seemed like up until just recently you had decided not to play internet tough guy, but I guess you've gone back to that. For a while there I was starting to think maybe I had gotten the wrong impression of you.

Your post came across with a tone that implies that I fit some mold just as you expect, which is a snotty, condescending way to talk to anyone, let alone someone you don't know.

Gotta admit though, the way you try to jump on my way of talking as a jab back at me is pretty amusing.

MarkV - 12-8-2008 at 04:17 AM

Wow, disagreeing with someone is internet tough guy? Had no idea. I'm opinionated, and will go to great lengths to support my opinions.

Actually, it makes more sense to take that opinion with someone you don't know. You've, in many threads, made it pretty clear what your tastes are, musically. Don't think there's really anything wrong, snotty, condescending to drawing conclusions based on what you know. And in this case, its that people that listen to certain shit and of a certain age tend to have similar patterns. I make a living by knowing and tracking people in different demos likes and dislikes. Everyone fits a mold to some extent.

I jumped on your way of talking?? I made 1 comment about you making up a word. I think you might be a LITTLE too sensitive.
