All Out War

I was discussing this band with somebody earlier today and he says that they're a hardcore band. I think they're a metal band. His argument was that they always played hardcore shows. I saw them play a few times and it was always with hardcore bands, but to me they were always a straight up metal band. I wouldn't even call them metalcore.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Love'em and they are metal to me and that is a good thing. I love metal.

Almsot everytime I saw them play which is many times they played with metal bands but they are more hardcore than most hardcore bands. I woiuld call the metalcore because you listed it. Otherwise they are metal with hardcore influence. That makes then metalcore. Unless you read the lyrics then they are metal. Or if you look at the artwork on lps then they are metal. But if you meet them they would come off as freinds of the hardcore community. then if you judge them by side projects you would have to say they are metal. They are influenced by both hardcore and metal. All joking aside. I am done wit htis.

Bollocks.
Sorry, I tried them, but just couldn't be interested.

Love them and have seen them live many times. Every time they were playing with hardcore bands and fuck they kill it live.

I would have to say on music and what not alone they are more metal then anything else, but some of their breakdowns are pure hardcore. So are their attitudes and the way they look and so on. Either way what ever you want to all them they are a great band.

MM.

Technically speaking, they would be considered a true metalcore band, unlike the metalcore bands the genre tag has been associated with. The term metalcore has been ruined over the last decade.

All Out War is thrashy, metal goodness, and their lyrics are also inline with a metal band but they came up in the hardcore scene. It's really the same thing as with Integrity; they are more metal than hardcore/punk musically and lyrically but they are associated with hardcore more than anything thus they become metalcore.

Yeah, definitely a band from the hardcore scene who always had a STRONG metal influence. But they had more "hardcore trappings" than a straight metal band does.

metalcore

Six66Mike - 1-13-2009 at 08:56 PM

I've always considered All Out War to be the true definition of what metalcore should be. I consider them metalcore legends.

Pure unadulterated shit. And no, not "THE shit", just shit, feces, waste material, poop. Unlistenable.

And yes, before anyone complains, this is just my opinion.

^We know, you never fail to express it whenever the topic of AOW comes up!

I consider them a metal band, they consider them a metal band.

A metal band that plays in the hardcore scene because, quite frankly, their lyrics are rather intelligent and all... metal scene is for dopes.
