Made in Manchester will be producing a radio documentary that will attempt to find out who the "real" Sid Vicious was. The program, In Search of Sid, is on BBC Radio 4 next Tuesday Jan. 20 at 11 pm and is presented by friend and ex-Public Image Ltd bassist, Jah Wobble.

"Sid Vicious is possibly the most popular and visible icon of the punk movement. Malcolm McLaren once claimed that 'if Johnny Rotten is the voice of punk, then Sid Vicious is the attitude'," said MIM creative director Ashley Byrne. In In Search of Sid, Jah re-evaluates the enigma he thought he used to know with others who had a brush with this punk icon." The program contains previously un-broadcast archive of Vicious and his mother. There’s also a new take on his death.

You can listen to the program online here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/

I read in Lemmy's book that he tried to give Sid bass lessons, but sid was unteachable.
Lemmy ran into Sid at a pub and he was like "I'm playing Bass Guitar for the Sex Pistols".
Lemmy was like "but Sid, ...you can't play."

I wish people would get over Sid. The Sex Pistols were awesome, but were at their best with Glen Matlock on bass. Sid couldn't play, he was just a ridiculous image for the punk movement.

I won't deny that Glen was a better bassist. Hell, he even played on "Never Mind The Bollocks." But Sid's attitude was far beyond what any musicianship could provide. He defined the PISTOLS and the punk movement, without which HC would have never existed.

To me, it was Johnny Rotten that had the attitude that attracted me to the Pistols. Sid was a useless junkie.
