Although I like most of their albums, I have to go with Independent Worm Saloon as their best.JawnDiablo - 1-20-2009 at 05:22 PM
I picked Independent Worm Saloon also.
It's a solid record,a nd I did see them twice on tour for it.
Those were some wacked shows too.
I like a little from each era.
Widowermaker is great, as well as Hairway to Steven.
The old old stuff is cool too, but I really have to be in the mood to hear any of the stuff predating Hairway to Steven.SS76 - 1-20-2009 at 05:51 PM
I chose electriclarryland because I don't need to be in a weird mood to listen to it. I saw gibby in boston a few months ago with the paul green
school of rock allstars( little kids, 8-16 maybe playing old butthole surfers songs with gibby singing) the best part of the show was when gibby said
these kids write their own music too, this one's called "shitting in your mother's vagina" The looks on their faces was priceless. It was anarchy
after the show, and this one little kid chewed up some big green hulk hands and spit the pieces everywhere.DAK - 1-20-2009 at 05:59 PM

I would've chosen "Got Scott Weiland hooked on heroin and saved us from even more Stone Temple Pilots albums," but that wasn't an option.Voodoobillyman - 1-20-2009 at 06:28 PM
i dig em, used to listen to them big time in early high school yearstireironsaint - 1-21-2009 at 12:40 AM
Love the old shit, can't stand the later "popular stuff". I am still amazed that such a bizarre band was able to gain some mainstream success even
with a name like that. I used to always see Gibby around Austin, always at restaurants.clevohardcore - 1-21-2009 at 03:01 AM
I would like to talk to someone close to them. I'd like to know what they or at least Gibby is like in real life. It's hard to imagine they did
supposedly really did LSD for every show from 1984 to 1991. Look, I have seen them live 2 times. Once in 1990 and once in 1991 and they were
WAAAAAYYYYY fucking crazy. But did they have rehab issues? Do they have normal lives and families or are there lives total messes? Are they down to
earth when hanging out or are they chaos 24/7?JawnDiablo - 1-21-2009 at 07:33 AM
I read Gibby lived on a ranch called 1401 somewhere and would shoot at you if you came uninvitedsippers - 1-21-2009 at 10:32 AM
locust abortion technician that album has so many tales of debauchery for me.human cannonball is fucking amazing..JawnDiablo - 1-21-2009 at 10:56 AM
Isn't Gibby's dad Chief Half Town or something?CR83 - 1-21-2009 at 01:09 PM
I have to confess, I have never heard any of their music. The only time I have seen them is in the cameo in that Chris Rock movie CB4.clevohardcore - 1-21-2009 at 01:23 PM
CR check em out. I'd send you the file but you would have to brief me on how to do it. For me it is more of a casual thing. I like organization and
structure and formality. They are not like that. I am guessing your the same since we have much the same musical interests. FOr me Locust ab tech and
psychic powerless,,,, remind me of hanging out partying with a few freinds from my teenage years and drinking robotussin DM and smoking weed. ONe time
a frined of mine and i were making some stupid ass song about how much we hated George Bush SR and recording it. Just drums, mandoline and a mic. Back
then Jehovas witnesses would knock on your door weekly it seemed. Well he put the intro to the surfers on his parents stereo. Invited them in and
jammed it so loud the neighbors came over scared. The heard the tune and saw the 2 guys running. We were laughing so hard.
I only listen to them away form my kid if that tells you something CR.tireironsaint - 1-21-2009 at 07:07 PM

His dad was the host of a children's show way back in the
day. I believe he was called Mr. Peppermints or some shit like that.Discipline - 1-21-2009 at 07:46 PM

I figured you would hate this band. Don't know why, just figured you'd think they suck.tireironsaint - 1-21-2009 at 08:18 PM
They were one of those bands that I came up hearing everywhere. When I was just a pup in Austin, everybody I hung with played their records and I
think the dark, twisted aspect of it got a good hold on me well before the drugged out aspect could irritate me. Like I said, I really don't dig the
later stuff, which is all much more straight forward and toned down, but there are some old songs that still pop up in my head for no apparent reason
from time to time. Cherub being one of those, Creep In The Cellar and Moving To Florida are also like that for me.
Anybody into Scratch Acid? They were another one I kind of grew up liking that are more or less in the same category as the Surfers for me and I love
them.MarkV - 1-21-2009 at 08:37 PM
That's the pre-Jesus Lizard band, correct?tireironsaint - 1-21-2009 at 10:40 PM

Indeed. Much better as well, in my opinion.MarkV - 1-21-2009 at 11:47 PM
I don't like them as much. It's def good.JawnDiablo - 1-22-2009 at 07:20 AM
Gibby, as all the Stone Temple Pilot Fans are walking out after their first song at the Mann in Philly in 92: " You dumb mother fuckers are walking
out on the jimi hendrix of the 90s" or something along them lines.
Something is to be said about a guy who enters the stage firing off a shotgun.
