on the rare occasion i'm using TM, it's for a show that costs $45 or $65 in the first place, so while the fees are still an unwanted tax, they don't MORE THAT DOUBLE the price of admission like in your case. that sucks.

random - 1-26-2009 at 04:42 PM

holy crap! what show is that for?

XHonusWagnerX - 1-26-2009 at 05:39 PM

Ticket sellers are insane!

A friend was doing a comedy show last weekend and the tickets were $25. If you ordered online they added a $10 'restoration fee' for the hall... BULLSHIT!

There are also some sites that will charge you for 'delivery' even if you print the tickets yourself at home!!

Kid Ugly - 1-26-2009 at 06:15 PM

When we were going to a Motorhead show in September, my friend bought the tickets online and them e-mailed to him....They STILL fucking charged him for shipping and handling.

Siczine.com - 1-26-2009 at 06:45 PM

Soon LiveNation will be taking over the advance ticket market, and I'm sure they'll be just as bad if not worse.

MarkV - 1-26-2009 at 06:49 PM

Live Nation will handle Live Nation events. The other companies aren't going to use them for their ticketing. Ticketmaster will still exist for those.

newbreedbrian - 1-26-2009 at 06:52 PM

that's fucking disgusting.

clevohardcore - 1-26-2009 at 08:30 PM

OUCH!

Its for a madball/terror show. It was my mistake to commit to the purchase before looking at all options, but I was under the impression that Ticketmaster or physically going to the box office were my only options. And since the venue is a 2 hour round trip that wasn't gonna happen. I contacted the venue who does will call orders over the phone for a much smaller fee, but ticketmasters suspicious sounding policy doesn't allow for cancellation of orders unless the event itself is canceled. I have used ticketmaster in the past and the fees have never been this bad. Maybe 10 dollars or something, but almost equal to the value of the tickets is just fucking criminal.

Oh and if you happen to get violently ill or some other unfortunate act of god where to occur, you are fucked.
From ticketmasters website:

Question
How do I get a refund on my order if I can't go to my show?

Answer
Before purchasing tickets, carefully review your event and seat selection. Policies set forth by our clients, including venues, teams and theaters, prohibit Ticketmaster from issuing refunds after a ticket has been purchased or for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets. As agreed to during the ticket purchasing process, tickets cannot be cancelled, exchanged or refunded unless the event has been cancelled or postponed. This policy has been provided to Ticketmaster by the venues/promoters.

After contacting ticketmaster and finding they would not refund, even if I was going to get directly from the venue I emailed them:

I have never had the displeasure of having someone force them self upon me sexually, but I imagine that it would feel alot like paying 21 dollars in fees.

Thank you for your e-mail. We apologize for any inconvenience, however, Ticketmaster is a business that provides a service for a fee. Ticketmaster charges service fees in the same manner that a travel agent might charge for the convenience of using its service.

Lesson learned!

Where is that show? Did you really need to get advance tix for it?

barc0debaby - 1-27-2009 at 12:47 AM

Key Club. Probably didn't need advance tickets, but I am really obsessive compulsive about planning shit in advance. I have to have everything laid out to a fuckin T.

MarkV - 1-27-2009 at 07:46 AM

I hear you and am totally ocd, esp about "events."

However, Madball/SOIA didn't sell out there, neither did AF. I do base a lot of my show decisions (should I go, will it be sold out, etc etc) based on passed shows.

What happened to 5$ and a can of soup...........:spin:
