Purge?

Six66Mike - 1-29-2009 at 07:18 AM

I don't think my potential employer has to go much further than my facebook to get an earful outta me haha. My random shit here is the least of my worries and I like intermittent strolls down memory lane.

I think if anyone is researching you on the web they're going to be a lot more worried about you boycotting christian anything than something about balls.

i like the old posts, how sometimes they come back.....come on how could we get rid of who's the hottest spice girl, thread?

newbreedbrian - 1-29-2009 at 10:25 AM

i don't think anyone has their full name on here do they? either way i say keep em, i love the old threads

BDx13 - 1-29-2009 at 11:09 AM

whatever you people want, just let me know.

- we can prune by date (posts more than xxx days old)
- we can delete entire threads (like the one linked to above)
- we can delete individual posts.

in fact, you should be able to delete your own posts as well. find one you don't like, click the green 'edit' button and on the next page, you'll see an option to "! Delete this message !".

i think for the most part, people's account info is relatively anonymous. certainly most user names are. but if you have an email address, IM address or website listed in your account, people might be able to put together the pieces of who you are. same goes for post content. personally, my account info is vague, but with 11,000 posts, you can bet there's enough personal info to figure out who i am.

I agree with Boycott

I know some of the stuff I've posted I wouldnt want my employer to see. (The thread about my supervisor in the hate forum) I think either of BD suggestions would be fine.

Not with a muslim socialist president, no.

Didn't know he was reviewing resumes.

defstarsteve - 1-29-2009 at 11:44 AM

what about a hall of shame vault
but it's by invite only
that way those outsiders can't get in to see the good shit

JawnDiablo - 1-29-2009 at 12:05 PM

I doubt anyone's looking for me.
If they can get anything about me off of myspace then whatever.
They will see I drink too much and tease the cat and dig Sheer Terror

ah a hall of shame sounds cool....

Dave - 1-29-2009 at 01:55 PM

man that old post has a lot of people that arent on here anymore, forgot about a lot of them...

Discipline - 1-29-2009 at 02:09 PM

I say keep it. You can't change the past.

BDx13 - 1-30-2009 at 10:51 AM

ok, we can do that.
how much should we keep live?
we have posts going back to 8/04.

is archiving everything up to 12/31/07 thinning it down too far?

I love old threads... theres some good shit in those.

BDx13 - 2-2-2009 at 12:17 PM

quick summary...

- if you want to delete a post of your own, you can do that. find one you don't like, click the green 'edit' button and on the next page, you'll see an option to "! Delete this message !".

- if there is an entire thread than needs to go, and you are the one that started that thread, contact me via u2u and I'll take care of it.

- at some point this week, i'm going to try to move all posts from before 1/1/08 to a new thread only accessible to registered members.

lemme know if you have any questions or strongly disagree to any of this.

Furly - 2-2-2009 at 01:11 PM

I just sent out a couple of U2U's to people that have quoted me using my last name and asked them to modify. Other than that I couldn't care less about any of the other posts.

BDx13 - 2-18-2009 at 06:06 PM

turns out this isn't going to be as easy as i though.
bulk delete, yes.
move, no.
still looking into a safe way to do this.
