RICK TA LIFE

clevohardcore - 2-2-2009 at 12:13 PM

new bombardment of messages. I got a question. I just read through one of them. Fucking painful, but I think I read that he is boycotting MADBALL? WTF? WHat happened between them?

XHonusWagnerX - 2-2-2009 at 12:34 PM

he sent some message to the Slapshot myspace page (maybe it was a bulltin too) about how SLAPSHOT and HARLEYS WAR dont wear Pitchfork Clothing because they are true hardcore and they should check out his new clothing line.

I think hes still nuts and if hes out he should be comitted again.

I prefer to boycott any beating I could potentially get at the hands of Madball by telling everyone to check out their new record.

they would beat someone up for recomending their record? Does that mean even they know it sucks?

clevohardcore - 2-2-2009 at 03:20 PM

I think Lind meant that if you publically acknowledge to boyoctt MADBALL that it would result in a beating.

That being said MADBALL rule and this 25 ta life/rictalife thing is really taking the turn for the worse. That dude is going WAAAAYYYYYY overboard.

Also, hating on MADBALL because they want to make some cash is the definition of PLAYER HATIN. I remember 25 ta life cancelling a show in Clevo in 1997 because they ended up playing a show in Cincinnatti for more cash. Rick tried to deny it but failed to realise that Cincinnatti and Clevo are both in Ohio. People talk and it didn't sit well with the Clevo promoter either.

but how much cash can madball really be making?
most kids dont even buy cds anymore and one listen to any of this newer pap by any older fan would just make you not want to hear the rest of it.
and they havent put out anything good since the NYHC ep in my opinion,
I saw them in philly recently and was just kinda turned off by it all.
the gangsta yip yap shit between songs was just silly
yo yo where all the real OG gangsta mothafuckas at ? yo we the og gangsta mothafuckas yo.
i know people on here love em.
i still like everything up to the EP
but i dunno
i doubt theyre making any money worth bragging about

When you decifer the RICKTALIFE messages it says something to the effect that BOYCOTT MADBALL BECAUSE THEY ARE ASKING FOR TOO MUCH MONEY TO PLAY SHOWS. Like they are losing touch with hardcore or something. Maybe I'm wrong but thats what I got from it.

Also, MADBALL are great. Always have been and probably always will be. Including the new stuff.

Also, RICK TA LIFE stated he is coming out with a rap cd and a new rap act. Ebonics in full effect.

i always had the impression there was bad feeling between him and madball as on one of their albums there's a skit with someone taking the piss out of him.

ah well. life goes on.

last good record madball did in my opinion was Set It Off. Demonstrating My Style was ok but it hinted at the sign of things to come, ie really slow boring songs.
i remember buying 'look my way' and fucking hating it.

they always draw a crowd in London but about 80% of the kids who come out to see them won't be seen anywhere near smaller shows.

the other week i was discussing the whole rick ta life fiasco and it suddenly occurred to me that the first time i ever met rick, true to form, he sold me a blank tape that was supposed to be a 25 ta life live set haha

My favorite moment was a friend buying a sealed copy of rock for light only to peel the celophane off and have to be a burned CD with color copy covers.

^^^^^^^^^ UN FUCKING REAL. I have heard stories like that but never actually witnessed it. Other than his demos that never seem to go out of print.

mattybar - 2-5-2009 at 05:50 AM

yeah i bought the first pitboss album off him and it was the same deal.
the inside cover was a one sided color copy of the real cover.

he also sold me a GFY demo for £9 by saying it was a full length album.

you live and learn.

JawnDiablo - 2-5-2009 at 07:22 AM

i purchased some pretty bad garbage from him on ebay
he has a CS.com email to this day....
he wrote his emails in dislexic ebonics
