First off... the "cup" is a horrible device of torture and no one should ever have to use it. Who ever came up with that thing is obviously much more
comfortable digging around in their vag than I am. I honestly don't know how people use it... I can get 2 fingers in there max and to have to try to
fit that thing over the cervix and then dig it out again... UGH! I don't have that kind of time.
Sorry to go off... but UGH!
Why didn't they just give them pads or tampons? Why go with something hardly anyone uses?

my guess? it's reusable. you give it to them once, and they can keep using it as long as they clean it. development work usually has some notion of
sustainability (though not necessarily a good notion). i think i read an older version that mentions most females in nepal essentially use rags that
they have to clean, so having to reuse it isn't as much of an issue.
i'm still amazed that the focus on the impact of menstruation on schooling was solely on the physical bleeding. even for women i know who mention
excessive bleeding, clotting, etc... this is never their big complaint about how it impacts their daily life during "that time of the month"
