Jules Clocher, a Belgian psychologist, said: 'The trauma this girl must be feeling is indescribable. She feels like a circus freak - and no wonder, because she looks like one.'

damn thats the kinda kind words i'd wana hear from a psychologist!
Also, possibly symbolic the the 'SEXY' buckle appears to be falling off her belt in the 2nd pic?! haha

How the fuck do you fall asleep during a tattoo? Especially one on your face, the buzzing of the gun alone would be enough to keep me up.

I've fallen asleep a few times while getting tattooed. When I was getting my chest done I passed out for almost an hour.

gavin - 6-16-2009 at 07:48 PM

this is fucked for alot of reasons.
MAYBE the girl asked for this tattoo
but the dude who did it is a fucking jerk off for tattooing an 18 yr olds face....period
this should have never been an issue as dude who did the tattoo shoulda told her to bounce from the get go

XnMeX - 6-16-2009 at 08:17 PM

18 = old enough to make her own stupid decisions...

Six66Mike - 6-16-2009 at 08:29 PM

"He asked for a 13 and he got a 31" from that Offspring song. This is even funnier, she asked for 3 and got a 3 :bouncy:

I was thinking all the same things. I saw the psychologist part and thought, "gee, you're probably the kind of psychologist who helps a patient pick a method when they're suicidal since you also think their life sucks."

Let's think about how this is fucked...

(1) Except when the person is friends with the artist already, I've never known of a tattoo that either wasn't approved by the client ahead of time as a stencil or a sketch drawn on the body.

(2) Where I've been in the US, they always make a photocopy of the stencil and attach it to the approval/waiver form along with a copy of ID. That way, no bullshit like this later.

(3) Fully agree about the face tattoo on her. But this is the unfortunate reality... legit artists don't do face tats on people who don't have extensive work already... thus many bad face tats that can't be hidden.

(4) If (1) and (2) are not common practice in your area... DO NOT GET THE TATTOO IF YOU CAN'T FUCKING COMMUNICATE WITH THE ARTIST IN THE SAME LANGUAGE. Anyone else think she said "five or six stars" in her language and he misinterpreted that as "fifty-six stars" or "five six (56) stars"?

exactly.
18 or not, it's just not a good decision to make as a tattoo artist.
christ i remember when i was young and getting them in the early 90s, and people rarely got them on their necks and hands. the guys i was going to just wouldnt do it unless it was someone who was i dunno established in the tattoo community or some shit, or a real bad ass.
both them are dumbasses.

Agree with both.

XnMeX - 6-17-2009 at 01:41 PM

I still stick by 18 = old enough to make a decision... like buying a "SEXY" belt buckle. ;)

franklo - 6-17-2009 at 02:32 PM

I have refused to do some neck tats on young folks.I try to explain to them whats cool now might not be cool when u go for
employment.I think they understand, then the leave the shop and go to the next shop and get it anyway! So im just the a-hole....

defstarsteve - 6-17-2009 at 02:44 PM

stupid people are going to do stupid things

if you don't take the money somone else will, and having a set of moral standard is awesome,
but there is always a scumbag scratcher out there who will do it in an unsafe setting that these people will end up at.

I am sure she will get laser removal and plastic surgery and not have to live with her choices...
but that's the society we seem to live in.

JawnDiablo - 6-17-2009 at 03:24 PM

to me , well back years ago, a neck piece was always the crown jewel like after youre sleeved up and pretty well tatted up. but these days i see kids like just out of high school getting dumb shit on their necks and hands that don't have any other real ink.
really, i just think kids are even dumber than the dumb asses i had around growing up.
oh, i know a bunch of you heads do have the neck ink, but youre not the types im talkin bout so dont take that the wrong way.

she's 18
can you or anyone else here honestly say that they are happy with choices thmade at this age?
is she an idiot?....yes
is this ultimately her fault?.....yes
BUT
is the person who did this tattoo free of some of the blame?....no

yes, she should have known better
yes, she is stupid
yes to all of these type of things

but dude has no standards
there is a certain responsibility that need to be taken into account when you are a tattooer.
anyone who will tattoo just anything that they are asked to do because they are getting paid for it shouldn't be in that business to begin with.
there are judgement calls to be made.
if one is unable to make these judgment calls they are in the wrong business.

XnMeX - 6-17-2009 at 04:58 PM

I say a tattoo artist has no need to make judgement calls. PERSONAL accountability / choices should not lie on others, reguardless of the situation.

If I am unhappy about anything I have done in my past it is my fault and mine alone.

BDx13 - 6-17-2009 at 05:14 PM

i, too, have fallen asleep while getting tattooed.
only once, while my back was being done, but i had been up the entire night before.

i agree with gavin and frank.
i preferred it when not just anyone could walk in and get their hands, neck or face tattooed.

where is the tattooers PERSONAL accountability?
rarely is a person in such a position that the service they provide will effect the buyer for the rest of their lives.
when you do tattoos, or any number of things for that matter, your name goes out with it.
like it or not, thats the way it is.

gavin - 6-17-2009 at 06:29 PM

on a side note, there is NO WAY this chick slept through this tattoo.

random - 6-17-2009 at 07:51 PM

well, here's the guy who put the stars on her face.

here's another story: http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2009/06/seeing-stars-te...

and here's one with a video: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8104645.stm

there is one thing that is making me believe she asked for the tattoo... if you notice at the end of the video, the artist is sitting behind his portfolio with a picture of her after it was done. if she really freaked out about the piece - like most people would if they didn't agree to it - i find it hard to believe she was calm and happy when he took a photo at the end.

still, dude never should've agreed to do it. but maybe he was hoping she'd be his bride.

sorry bro, but you completely missed my point. i don't believe for a minute she 1) didn't know what she was getting or 2) fell asleep. she regretted her decision, most likely due to pressure from her boyfriend and father (according to the article). where the personal accountability comes into it is where she decides to sue the tattooist for her stupid decision. that's everything wrong with society these days. nobody fucks up and lives with their decisions anymore, everything is someone else's fault. fuck that nonsense. you fuck up? too bad, there are consequences to bad decisions. if you are legal age and get a bad tattoo, that's your fault. you being legally an adult is where the tattooist's legal responsibility ends. is tattooing an eighteen year old girls face something i think he should be doing? fuck no, but my moral judgments aren't the same as everyone else. the point is moot in the grand scheme of things. the two things are mutally exclusive.

barc0debaby - 6-17-2009 at 09:02 PM

Fuck that, I would never pay a dude that looked like that for any kind of service.

I agree with Gavin 100%. The artist is responsible not just as someone who understands the repercussions of getting inked in such a visible spot, but also to cover his own ass so that shit like that doesn't happen.

First piece I got done on my hands, I had two artists in the shop questioning and making sure that I understood how it could affect me and that I was fully prepared to take that step.

random - 6-17-2009 at 09:11 PM

i'll throw out a new angle on the discussion... what do you guys think of artists who do nazi / white power tats?

it's only a partially hypothetical question. the guy who did the stuff i have told me about a 16 or 17 year old kid who wanted a swazi tat, and it was legal to tattoo someone that age with parental permission. artist said the mom clearly wasn't into it and basically took the kid to the studio knowing the artists would refuse. and she was right. they refused and explained that what they do is permanent and that they don't feel comfortable with that kind of work, especially on a minor.

barc0debaby - 6-17-2009 at 10:00 PM

Alot of artist who do such tattoos are already open too if not involved in far right politics.

XnMeX - 6-17-2009 at 10:02 PM

I say an artist should go over with the person, question, making sure they know that it is premamnent, etc but after all is said and done, it is the persons ultimate decision and even if the artist doesn't even ask one question I say he should not be accountable at all. People wanna be fucking idiots, they should pay the price.

random - 6-17-2009 at 10:03 PM

edit: damn, XnMeX posted between our comments

yeah, that's kinda my point. there's a commonly-accepted professional policy regarding personal responsibility when it comes to that kind of work, and i don't see why that's so different from face/neck/hand pieces. but from the other arguments on this thread, the expected response is "fuck it, they know the possibilities, consent, and pay... so the artist has no reason to oppose."

defstarsteve - 6-18-2009 at 08:56 PM

okay I stole this from someone else but god damn it's funny

"hey at least when someone cums on her face they will see the Milky Way"

Vanilla Gorilla - 6-18-2009 at 09:48 PM

Not sure if anyone posted this and am to lazy to go back and find out but when has anyone ever got a tattoo when they didnt get to see the outline first before the artist went ahead with it. Fuck even if they draw it on, you still see what they draw, no way you mistake 3 stars for 56 either, fuck her take some responsibility for yourself.
