gavin - 8-5-2009 at 01:47 PM

in philly
i am not going as i have to work
im goin with bj and forrest(although im not so sure about forrest but i like him so im rootin for him)
who youz got?

LordActionWood - 8-5-2009 at 03:40 PM

BJ by ref stoppage in the 3rd.
Silva by ref stoppage in 3rd or by decision.

I am rooting for forrest myself but Silva's striking is so next level. If it goes to the ground, forrest needs to control from the top and smash.

I think BJ and Florian may get a little bloody. I like both fighters a lot. Florian needs to stay off the ground.

I am DJing Saturday night and will watch this shit on Sunday. I already told my friends to not send me spoilers via text or I will cancel all remaining 2009 PPV event viewings at my house.

WINTHESKIN - 8-5-2009 at 03:49 PM

I really like all these guys, but i think Ken Flo is gonna win.Silva will win by submission 2nd round.I tried gettin tix earlier this week and the cheapest was 233.00 a piece for a 50 dollar seat.So i will watch for free on the internet.Anyone interested in watchin the fight for free u2u me and i will give you a couple of different sites to watch it on come sat.I still can't believe Fedor didnt sign with ufc. There is no one in strikeforce that can hang with him.It seems like he doesnt want to fight the top guys.Vitor and Franklin will be a good fight come ufc103

Vanilla Gorilla - 8-5-2009 at 03:53 PM

Isn't Fedor also taking less money to fight in Strikeforce? Seems like a cop out to go and fight lesser competition, especially if your gonna take fights for less money.

gavin - 8-5-2009 at 04:04 PM

here's the thing with fedor
fedor is a part owner of m1
he and his managment has a huge investment in m1
he is also under a contract agreement with m1
i dont blame ufc for not taking the deal
BUT i dont blame fedor and his managment for looking out for their other interests as well
fedor isnt avoiding fighting anyone
this was and is all biz

as someone who has followed for years, the same thing was said when tim silvia was on top
alot of people said fedor was "avoiding" a fight with him, including tim and tims managment
a few short years later, the fight happens and ol' timmy lost in 39 seconds

the same story was told when AA was on top
same thing

look at who fedor has fought and beat
just because ufc is the biggest and best known in the world at this point dosent mean that there are not top ranking fighters elsewhere

and i for one in a way admire fedor and his managment for not taking the huge money and sticking to their guns
although it sucks that at this point it dosent seem he will be in ufc and im sorry i wont get to see him dimantle some of thier dudes, money and fame and all that isnt always the answer

really, who does ufc have that is a threat to fedor?
randy?....sure
lessnar?....pah-leeez....see tim about that one cuz this fool is hyped up the same as tim was
who else?

LordActionWood - 8-5-2009 at 04:12 PM

Gavin, did you watch Sengoku? Those events have been entertaining in a Pride sort of way...at least to me....I really miss the Pride events.

Not too many interesting matchups for Fedor in Strikeforce but I will still watch him everytime he fights. I think the current biggest threat against Fedor is Barnett (who is fighting in Japan in Novemeber).

I think Fedor was just sticking to his business plan as far as not signing with the UFC....dude will fight anybody.

We may have to settle for watching Cro-Cop kncoking the flat top off of Lesar.

The other thing I read about Fedor is UFC wouldn't let him compete in Sambo tournaments and he wasn't cool with it. Something I read, don't know if it's true or not.

I heard the same thing and then Dana White said that was not the case. Who knows.

WINTHESKIN - 8-5-2009 at 04:38 PM

Dana said that he could compete in Sambo every thursday night if he wanted to.The only thing that kept him from signing was the M-! deal.Dana will not co promote with them..I don't blame the Ufc for that.M-1 has 2 men under contract that is it,why would the UFC co promote.

i havent
i think rennie tried to hip me to at at one point but i never have

Vanilla Gorilla - 8-5-2009 at 05:36 PM

I think Fedor is the best fighter out there, it just sucks to not see him fight the other top guys that seem to be in UFC, so wanted to see him beat Lesnar. I am sure there are other good heavyweights elsewhere but UFC seems to have the top fighters.

from a fan point of view i agree 100%
but from a business side i see where both parties are coming from and dont blame either one for the decisions they made

barc0debaby - 8-5-2009 at 08:48 PM

UFC contracts are such that zuffa pretty much completely owns the rights to your image for life.

gavin - 8-6-2009 at 06:43 PM

anyway, yeah, i dont think forrest can win this
silva is too good
but i kinda hope he does
i like him

i def. have b.j. though

Discipline - 8-6-2009 at 08:21 PM

I can't help but cheer for Forrest. For one, he's a great fighter. Also, I spent a good amount of time talking with him at UFC 83 in Montreal. Dude is the nicest, most down to earth guy, and unlike some fighters, doesn't show even a hint of ego.

I hope BJ loses just because he comes off like a whiney bitch ever since losing to GSP. He claimed the fight wasn't fair, blah blah blah, and now he's spouting off about GSP supposedly being juiced up. Fuck him.

Vanilla Gorilla - 8-6-2009 at 08:31 PM

Forrest is great, heard an interview with him in Opie and Anthony guy was funny as hell, just talking about how he didn't care about technique and just likes to fight.
