Take a look and lemme know if anything is outta line.
I mean, literally out of line.
Trying to tweak myspace code is so inefficient, it's not even funny.
Mostly looking to make sure those new headers (releases, blog, newsletter, etc) all line up correctly and aren't covering content they shouldn't be.

Thanks.

looks good to me

releases and Blog somewhat off (blog is about 15px higher) in safari on the Mac

BDx13 - 9-2-2009 at 02:53 PM

off how, shawn?
you mean not vertically aligned with one another?
or one of those headers is 15px too high and covering something else?

thanks!

ShawnRefuse - 9-2-2009 at 02:59 PM

aligned. nothing covering. Just thought it was soooooo close that it could be better if they were aligned.

Sorry, designer in me.

Same here in Windows Vista / Explorer

Looks like the text "Label: Indie" is visible under Mark's listing and the deffault BLOG link is 1/2 visible under the blog header...

Looks fine on Google Chrome though...

BDx13 - 9-2-2009 at 03:27 PM

shawn - 'releases' and 'blog' not aligning is deliberate... unfortunately. part of the reason is because the gutter is so narrow between the columns, when they were closer to being lined up, it just looked like one big horizontal barrier. the other reason is that from a CSS-spacing perspective, i can' move 'blog' down or 'releases' up enough to have them accurately line up w/o covering something else.

monty - good catch, i don't see either of those. i added more css to hide label:indie and moved the blog banner down just a few pixels. lemme know if that takes care of it.

thanks again, guys!

everything looks good on vista with firefox

Blog looks "better" and releases looks worse...

I see a problem over here too on Mozilla. My name isn't in big enough letters.

I kid. I kid. Closet comedian here.

BDx13 - 9-2-2009 at 10:27 PM

HAAAAAHAHA! I started reading that all serious and was laughing out loud by the end of the line. Thanks, Mark, I needed that.

I think we're all sorted now.
- I added a white background color to the content that I overlaid on top of the default text, so it shouldn't show through.
- Then added a little more white space to the top and bottom of the blog image and moved it down another pixel or two.

Also slapped my own banner at the top of the page. That'll become something more useful if we ever have anything to actually announce.

Looking good! ;)

Mark Lind - 9-2-2009 at 11:09 PM

How did you do the banner? I've often wondered how to insert those fancy schmancy things at the top.

Myspace is such a pain in the ass to work with for modifying...

Shawn Refuse helped me a lot when I did the Slapshot one. I didnt have a clue how to do any of it!

ShawnRefuse - 9-3-2009 at 10:06 AM

Mark, if you need any help with your page, let me know.

Not crazy on that background I have to say, something weird about it. But its laid out well, good job lad!

BDx13 - 9-3-2009 at 10:37 AM

talk to me gar, what don't ya like?
the bullets, the gradient, the fact that it doesn't scroll w/ the page?
it's kind of a combination of elements from the SGR site.
using something very similar on twitter as well.

So you're saying Duane is a great lay? But you'd like to change what's in the background? Maybe some smooth jazz instead?

: )

Mark, Like monty said, modifying myspace code is a pain in the ass. Because you don’t have direct access to the page code, you’re constantly trying to modify something without even really being able to see it.

There are tons of code snippets online, but many are either outdated, not cross-browser compatible or they conflict with other code edits that may already be in place.

Below is code I used to center the banner above all the myspace content. It can just go in the ‘musician bio’ field. Not sure how familiar you are with this, so if you’d like an explanation, lemme know. Basically, everything except "position: absolute;" and "left: 50.0%;" will need to be edited based on the size of the image you use.

Code:
<style> body { margin-top: 130px ;} div.topbanner { position: absolute; top: 20; left: 50.0%; margin-left: -364px; width: 728px; height: 130px; } </style> <div class="topbanner"><a href="http://thorprecords.com/store" target="_blank"><img src="http://thorprecords.com/images/banners/bulldogcourage-fhth-leaderboard.gif" width="728" height="90" border="0" /></a></div>
