XnMeX - 9-7-2009 at 08:14 PM

Not a fan... yeah, I said it.

XHonusWagnerX - 9-7-2009 at 08:15 PM

I'm a big fan of the really old stuff and definitly like some of the others too.

JawnDiablo - 9-7-2009 at 08:17 PM

i dig stuff throughout the band's career, and other stuff i'm not that into.
i'd be interested in hearin it.
mono and stereo? really?

MikeResist - 9-7-2009 at 08:35 PM

I love the Beatles. Most of their stuff is on my everyday playlist. But I can't see myself ever spending $200 on remasters. Mainly because I don't have $200 to my name.

lifeisabitch - 9-7-2009 at 08:36 PM

I like the fact they did pretty much whatever they wanted musically
and people ate it up...

I'm so with you. I have never enjoyed a Beatles song. Yeah, not a popular stance but an honest one.

Gavin, I hope it is all you are looking for and more Bud.

I do however like Rob's rendition of "day in the life" on the Ramallah album.

My stepdad is a Beatles freak. he actually bought both.

Six66Mike - 9-7-2009 at 11:42 PM

I never liked them either but I grabbed the Stereo box set to give it another shot some day. Saw the Mono one and might grab that too for shits & giggles one day when I'm bored and have nothing better to snag.

Thats an expensive purchase to 'give it a shot' and for 'shits and giggles'! I would like to get the mono one cause I think its cool that it exists, but $300 is pricey.

morgan - 9-8-2009 at 11:12 AM

Never cared for the beatles.

gavin - 9-8-2009 at 11:23 AM

fuckin flac files?
im supposed to convert this shit apparently
seems like alot of effort

Mark Lind - 9-8-2009 at 11:24 AM

Tied with Springsteen for my all time favorite. I have $200 set aside for the stereo remasters tomorrow. Just not sure if I can bring myself to part with the money. But these have been 25 years in the making here. Their CD releases sound like crap.

why stereo vs. the mono set? Is it because of the $100 price difference or another reason?

That's what I grabbed for the Stereo box set. Converting is easy with dbpoweramp or All2LAME - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Audio-Codecs/A...

I just queue shit up overnight & it's done in the morning, goes really quick if you only do a few cd's or have a good processor.

Can get those real easy too in any format. FLAC is 2.26 GB and best mp3 format is 695 MB. They got ogg & aac as well.

lifeisabitch - 9-8-2009 at 12:40 PM

flac is great compared to mp3 and can be played in most players...
it is not compressed and there for you have no sound quality loss...
but if you do convert you will have have that loss...

will go searching for these later after work...
been a while since I have owned anything by them, and I think it would be cool to turn my kinds on to them...

I want music to sound full and robust. Mono is the opposite of that.

To be honest, I want the Beatles records to sound as full and loud and the John and Paul solo records so I can make a good playlist on my iPod.

JawnDiablo - 9-8-2009 at 02:35 PM

is FLAC for Mac or somethin?
i accidentally downloaded the stuff before and couldnt use it

JawnDiablo - 9-8-2009 at 02:43 PM

my mom had all of the old 45s that the Beatles did in their early days.
my recluse hippy uncle took them all with him hen he moved out to New Mexico in 79 and never was to be seen again...ass hole

lifeisabitch - 9-8-2009 at 04:49 PM

no flac is open source

flac is just a new type of audio format, uncompressed lossless files. Apple has mad a Mac version called ALAC but they aren't very popular or work well cross platform. It's basically the best quality digital file you're going to get from a CD without the CD itself.

Six66Mike - 9-11-2009 at 11:48 AM

I just read that the Mono box set doesn't include Abbey Road, Let It Be or Yellow Submarine, so the Stereo box set is the most complete collection since those 3 have been remastered in stereo.

gavin - 9-11-2009 at 11:52 AM

abbey road, let it be and yellow sub. were not originally released in mono as the previous records were.
the earlier records were all pre-stereo

XHonusWagnerX - 9-11-2009 at 12:48 PM

thats shitty though. They should have put the stereo versions of those 3 records in the mono set so that it was still a complete set. So that means the mono set is $100 more and doesnt have all the records... lame!

necrobutcher - 9-11-2009 at 06:47 PM

Never got into them except for Eleanor Rigby. I love the hell out of that song.
