I do have a question. How would I transfer my itunes from my external hard drive? I found my external and clicked it. Yes everything is listed as seperate files and shit but how do I get itunes from there to install on my pc? The icon and everything? I like to keep a copy both on my pc and the external HD. Also, is it better just to use that transfer cable and hook up the old pc to the new one and just transfer it that way? Last time I did that the itunes kept saying it wasnt authentic and it was a mess with my library. Any ideas? My HD is westerndigital and no it doesn't have a popup window that tells me what to do for some reaosn. Any help is appreciated.

I would assume your new PC has Vista on it. I used the transfer cable moving all my info from an XP machine to a Vista. No trouble at all. I have my iTunes on both.

Make sure to download iTunes on your new machine first.

not sure if this works on a PC, but...

find the itunes library on your external hd. first, try to click & drag that file into itunes. otherwise, there should be an option on itues to "import library" and you can select the right file.

That is what I ended up doing and so far I think its ok, but the amount of days and total albums are not the same. I'll be fucking irate if it lost some of them again. I copied and transferred all of my itunes info last night to the HD and then now to the new PC. For some reason its not equaling up, but I will say the GB is almost the same. Now it says I have 42.65 when the other pc says 43.68.

Now its saying that it can't load to my ipod or play on my computer because it is not the orginal itunes. SO ALL MY FUCKING MUSIC MUST BE RELOADED FUCK THIS SHIT.

If you still have your old PC, find out what versions iTunes is. If you don't still have the .exe to install it, go to http://www.filehippo.com/download_itunes_32/ and download the same version you have on your old PC. Uninstall whatever you got on the HP now and install the old version.

It might work. I transferred my wife's library file to her laptop when she got one, as long as iTunes was the same version it worked fine. I had the same problems when I got a new PC with the playlist file not working on the newer iTunes I installed so I had the choice of rolling back (which I did because the newer version sucked even more ass than the old one) or create a new library.

Now I just don't use the damn thing at all.
