Inflikted is my favorite metal album period. I don't care for some of the Soulfly tribal shit, but nobody plays metal better than Max.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-30-2009 at 01:35 PM

hmmm....

Discipline - 9-30-2009 at 04:11 PM

Good call. I had them listed and then took them put as I was not really sure where to out them. I have always thought of them more along the lines as rock n roll as opposed to metal. They get lumped in with Slayer and Venom sometimes, but I feel they are not only older, but far superior as well. I would put them in the likes of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin to be honest. Sure they were not as talented, but there was no one that rocked as hard as Motorhead before Motorhead.

MM.

BKT - 9-30-2009 at 04:52 PM

I also feel while we are on the topic of excitable metal, we must show some love to Iron Maiden.

MM.

Mark Lind - 9-30-2009 at 06:11 PM

^Is Undying still playing? Heaven Shall Burn is a pretty good vegan impression of Bolt Thrower.

Six66Mike - 10-1-2009 at 03:56 AM

Apparently not, just pulled this off their Myspace:

After playing the final show of our final tour on March 24th of the year 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Undying has decided to part ways.

Heaven Shall Burn vocals were better on the old albums, the new stuff sounds like typical modern blah, nothing unique. Dude could shriek before, now it's kinda boring. When I mention them it's largely on the back of their old stuff.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy shit what a sick line up. How was Warbringer live? The new Goatwhore album is amazing.

MM.

SS76 - 10-1-2009 at 02:57 PM

Warbringer was on first, when I showed up they had about 2 songs left. Sounded great though. Only show I've ever been kicked out of.....Obituary's encore and a guy passes me a fat skunky smelling joint, I hit it and pass it, and a staff guy grabs me and walks me out. It was the very end of the show so I didn't give a fuck.

JawnDiablo - 10-1-2009 at 03:02 PM

i got tossed out of a monster magnet show for shit like that back in like 93...i mean come on....you're supposed to be stoned at them shows....

I haven't heard anything from HSB since that album with the song "Eco-War" on it. I really like the first album with the Day of Suffering cover.

That's one for me.

Day of Suffering.

BKT - 10-1-2009 at 11:48 PM

Hail of Bullets, nice pick.

Here are some more:

Grave
Entombed
Unleashed
Vital Remains
Death
Bolt Thrower

Cannibal Corpse
Disincarnate
Darkthrone
Gorgoroth
Carcass
Morbid Angel

MM.

Jason the Magnificent - 10-2-2009 at 08:25 AM

Checked out that Hail of Bullets...I dig that it sounds older...but it's kind of boring....the songs just seem to meander along not doing much. I'll have to give it another chance.

I'd rather listen to Death Breath!!

Mark Lind - 10-2-2009 at 09:16 AM

I need to hear Starkweather. Any link? They played the first show I ever went to. Rob bought their LP. Can't remember anything about them.

BDx13 - 10-2-2009 at 10:02 AM

croatoan came out in '06 and was their first release in nearly 10 years.
they just uploaded the whole thing to myspace, so check it out:
http://www.myspace.com/starkweather666
http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music.artistal...

they've got another album they recorded two years ago that hasn't been released yet.
i think that's the one deathwish is putting out.
they've also got a couple other wild tracks they're working on for some splits.
one is 30 minutes long and they plan to record it in a single take.
they're not fans of digital editing.
what you record is what you get.

BDx13 - 10-2-2009 at 10:24 AM

this is one of starkweather's 'new' songs, broken from inside.

jump up to 7:40 for what is far and away one of the most awkward moments i've ever experienced in 20 years of live music. the bands winds down and the club is dead silent while rennie is doing that screaming/whispering thing he does completely a capella. i was genuinely uncomfortable the first time i saw it.

only other time i've felt like that was at a diamanda galas show. but she was standing in a church, screaming into six mics in the pitch dark.

this is one of dummkopf's videos, btw.

BKT - 10-2-2009 at 10:43 AM

Bloodbath.

MM.

SS76 - 10-2-2009 at 11:01 AM

Chrome Division
Necrophagia
Tardy Brothers
Asesino
Internal Bleeding

BKT - 10-2-2009 at 11:45 AM

Chrome Division are working on a new album and they now have a new singer as well. I am thinking this album is going to be sick. Good choice by the way.

MM.

SS76 - 10-2-2009 at 12:21 PM

Didn't know they had a new singer....they make great drinking background music. They're on my playlist tonight along with Motorhead, Valient Thorr, Mighty High and Airborne.

SS76 - 10-5-2009 at 09:30 AM

Demiricous
Prong
Superjoint Ritual

Mark Lind - 10-5-2009 at 10:22 AM

Ranking of Metallica albums?

1) Master of Puppets
2) Ride the Lightning
3) And Justice for All
4) Kill em All
5) The Black Album
6) Death Magnetic
7) Load
8) St. Anger
9) ReLoad

Of course the best one really is the 5.98 EP.

Vanilla Gorilla - 10-5-2009 at 10:45 AM

I think we ranked Metallica albums a while ago didn't we.

1. Ride the Lightning
2. Kill'em All
3. and Justice for all
4. Black
5. Garage Days

I probably ranked them differently last time, i think you can rank them differently based on how your feeling at the time

5) The Garage Days Albums

Then after Justice as far as I am concerned they not longer exist.

I forgot Master of puppets, probably put them as 2b

Mark Lind - 10-5-2009 at 11:06 AM

Yeah I think we did this before. And I think my order was different then because I change my mind every other day.

Pretending they don't exist after Justice is probably sound advice.

that is solid advice...
and yeah
the 5.98 ep is possibly my favorite these days
and then i go backwards
1 puppets
2 lightning
3 kill em

i still don't like the way justice sounds.
and i have only heard the black album after that and never want to hear it again.

Six66Mike - 10-5-2009 at 12:43 PM

Slayer & Megadeth, Wednesday night. I need to get a damn ticket.

Slayer are the almighty bearers of the metal flag/torch/belt/whatever.

morgan - 10-5-2009 at 03:26 PM

Picked up Black Anvil- Time Insults the Mind and Goatwhore- Carving Out the Eyes of God over the weekend. Really digging both.

DaveMoral - 10-6-2009 at 12:12 AM

I just watched that documentary about Anvil. I liked their shit, number one; number two, what a pain in the ass that band is for those dudes.

Mark Lind - 10-6-2009 at 09:23 AM

I didn't watch the Anvil movie yet but I did listen to some of their songs online...... and I came to the conclusion that there's a reason they never made it big like Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth. They sorta stink.

DaveMoral - 10-6-2009 at 10:44 AM

Yeah, plus I don't honestly think there was room for more than 4 big thrash bands at the time. Exodus was awesome, but they never made it big like the big 4. Neither did Testament, and they were awesome.

That new Goatwhore album is fucking amazing.

MM.

Mark Lind - 10-6-2009 at 11:46 PM

Christ! I was just looking up Metallica certification numbers. Check this out:

The Black Album 14 million copies
And Justice for All 8 million
Master of Puppets 6 million
Garage Inc 5 million
Load 5 million
Ride the Lightning 5 million
S&M 5 million
Kill Em All 3 million
Reload 3 million
St. Anger 2 million
Death Magnetic 1 million

Do you think these guys have money in the bank? That's 57 million in the US alone. Fuuuck.

MikeFromInhuman - 10-7-2009 at 10:39 AM

I like this thread :)

DESTROYER 666 - saw them last week in Brooklyn for the 2nd time, first being 2001. Damn, this is one of the best bands in Extreme Metal today! From Australia, mix Black and Thrash, sick & catchy riffs, awesome lyrics, the kind of Metal you listen to before you go off to beat someone to a pulp.

OBITUARY - also saw them last week in NYC. They were FANTASTIC. Still the Kings of Death.

Dude Destroyer 666 is one of the best metal bands out there. The last album they put out was fucking insane.

For all you guys who like old school death metal bands like Entombed, Grave, and that really crunchy Sweden sound check out the band Demonical and their album Hellsworn. You will love this band.

MM.
