I can totally understand CR's issue with the vocals. They definitely would be the "put off" factor of this band for most. I normally am not into the
more black metal style vocals like that but he mixes it up with enough of the death growls that I can look past it.
I liked their last album Beyond the Permafrost...but to some degree they were still in hype band territory for me. But this album is something
different. Days later and several more listens I'd still agree with my best metal of '09 comment...when I look at an album playing and see it's on
track 12 of 12 and think to myself...damn...it's over already?...that doesn't happen a lot these days.

I like this album, but am not into this band as much as everyone else seems to be. They are ok, but as far as this kind of sound goes I would say the
new Destroyer 666 album kills this album.
MM.

I've heard that album, sounds like run of the mill black metal to me. Good, but doesn't stand out from any of the others current "bigger" black metal
bands.
I dig Skeletonwitch because they have a way more dynamic sound...it's not black metal, it's not thrash, its not death metal...it's all of them wrapped
together by a band that actually knows how to write memorable short non pretentious songs...that's a challenge anymore. It's nice to hear an album of
songs that hammer past you without wearing you out.

Sounds like very early At The Gates to me. Like...Gardens of Grief, The Red In the Sky Is Ours, With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness.
