Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Brutal Legend the 'heavy metal' video game

XHonusWagnerX - 10-15-2009 at 06:39 AM

I picked this up the other day and just started playing. I got up to a part where you have to go see "The Kill Master" because he is a healer and one of the people I'm with is injured. I get there and "The Kill Master" needs heavier strings to heal the girl. So I get in my 50's esc hotrod and drive to the lair of the giant mechanical spider. I defeat the spider and build a motorcycle out of stuff laying around and race back to "The Kill Master". I give him the strings and he plays a bass solo that heals the girl.

I give you.... THE KILL MASTER...

I played for maybe an hour & a half and I like it. Its really funny!!!

The guys you form as an army are big guys with HUGE HUGE HUGE necks from 'headbanging' in a cave where they were mining by banging their heads against the wall. The ones that wont join the army are the 'hair bangers' and they have neon headbands and animal print spandex on.

You can do a duel attack with the headbanger guys called 'the mosh pit' and they form a circle around you to protect you.

Hahaha, that's hilarious. So it's true, he is a god.

I am almost done with it. Not really diggin it much... The story is pretty funny but the gameplay is weird. Kinda like a hack and slash with a few elements of a strategy game. The big battles are boring and repetative. The game started out cool but then started to suck. Once they incorporated more "troops" to your battle, it sucked.

I'm still liking the game, but I'm not really into the whole 'troop' concept. The characters are funny, but I dont even really understand the battles and when/how/what I should pick for troops or why/when I can add more. It also seems like you can die as many times as need to as long as you have a 'merch booth' set up.

Since you can get headbangers for your troops, can you also get Invisible Ninja Fighting hardcore kids? Your army would probably benefit from all those spinkicks.

The more "merch booths" you have, the more "fans" you have... The more "fans" you have, the more "troops" you can make. As for what ones are usefull in what situations, not too sure 1/2 the time. One time I had to use the big speaker stack carrying "roadies" to defeat a base becasue they can sneak over undetected. It is pretty annoying how they have it setup like this.

did you finish SAW? What did you think?

I'm not done yet.. not sure how far I am, but I got stuck so I switched to Brutal Legend.

I'm at one with a puzzle where it disconnects batterys from a girl that gets electricuted if you fail. I keep failing.

clevohardcore - 10-19-2009 at 05:44 PM

If I had the money I would buy a game system just to play this. It sounds and looks so fucking cool. And I hate video games.

i thought this was gonna be the new york times article i read today (or maybe yesterday) about the game. and yeah, i'm a nerd and check nytimes.com at least once a day.

XHonusWagnerX - 10-19-2009 at 07:41 PM

what did the NY times say about it?

barc0debaby - 10-19-2009 at 08:54 PM

I'm stoked about Borderlands.

XnMeX - 10-19-2009 at 11:52 PM

I gave up on this game. It's not too tough, just got bored.

I beat Saw. WICKED fun!

XHonusWagnerX - 10-20-2009 at 06:23 AM

I got past that puzzle I was talking about yesterday.

The problem I was having with it was I thought there was a way to o it without hitting any of those things that shut down the batterys. You were allowed to hit 5, on the 6th the Iron Maiden closed, and once I thought about it before I started I did it by hitting 5 of them. I played a little past that, but then had to get ready for supper.

I'll probably play more SAW tonight since its already in the Xbox!
