I know at least 2 of you on here (Rev Paulie and I think Lord Action Wood) are into old soul and R&b stuff.
My girlfriend's father was a singer in a vocal group called "The Uptites" from West Philly back in the mid 60s. They recorded a few tracks and relesed a single called "Girl Of The Night".
Somehow, all these years later, that record is very popular amongst DJs spinning this kind of stuff over in England and France. we found the record on line selling for over $200!
Her dad doesn't even own a copy of the song at all, and I ws thinking maybe one of you owned the record, knew where I could obtain one, or have the song ripped to an MP3.
it is the song playing in the little link here that looks like a youtube video.
Her dad is Walt in the photo.

lemme know if you know anything. He's a great guy and I just think it would be cool to get him a copy, or at least put the song on a CD for him. He had sold all of his vinyl back in the day when his wife (her mom)died and he had to close his business cause his partner died of cancer. After that, years later he was the original voalistof rPhily Gumbo.

I was able to grab the audio from the YouTube.com video and save it as an MP3. I have uploaded it to RapidShare which will allow you to download it 10 times and then it is taken down. I am going to U2U you the link so the download limit doesn't get reached from people clicking on it.

Hey guys, Walt says thanks. He really digs the stuff on that compilation too Paul.
Along with that I fixed him up with some Chess Blues stuff I have.
The guy knows more reggae and ska than anyone I've met. hip cat for being 65.
Made his day.

I'm something that's for sure BD.
It's a very good relationship between him and I.
Not the usual girl's father / goofy boyfriend thing I have been used to all my life.
Never a :"what are your plans for the future bla bla" speach.
The guys into music and we pretty much bullshit about old music non stop. Something I never grow tired of. It's pretty cool becasue it made me dig out some of my old blues stuff and other assorted jazz and reggae that I haven't touched sincew we moved in here....
