Hardcore/punk nickname origins...

Some stories I've heard, but I don't know if they are true or not...

Johnny Rotten - he had really bad teeth

Sid Vicious - Sid from his middle name Simon. Vicious as an ironic name given to him by Malcom McLaren because "Sid couldn't fight his way out of a paper crisp bag".

Choke - He wore a shirt that just had choke written on it in marker

Lemmy - ???

Pig Champion - ???

Vinny Stigma - ???

Jimmy Gestapo - ???

sid got his name from rotten, named after a hamster that rotten had.
mcclaren, as with most things pistols related, had nothing to do with it although he takes credit for everything under the sun involving them

I read somewhere years ago that Jimmy Gestapo's name about while trying to pick a name that sounded more evil and shocking than names like Johnny Rotton and Sid Vicious.

apparently Lemmy's came from back when he used to roadie for Hendrix and was always mooching from anyone around him- lemme (lend me) a smoke, lemme 5 bucks etc. Not sure if it's true or not but that's what I heard.
