...bands try and cover songs and just kind of ruin something that is more or less timeless by metaling it up....

While that is indeed bad. The worst cover ever done was when Shattered Realm tried to cover Creeping Death by Metallica. That was pathetic.

But i hate metal,aside from danziq,The side project badlands did and ST.
Anyway
Most covers suck donkeydick aside from a few gems.
