Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

If you could pick just one....

Discipline - 6-1-2005 at 11:44 PM

which band would you like to see Thorp sign. (No picking your own band)

I'd say Everybody Gets Hurt. Those guys are amazing and need a good label to pick them up.

On the distro side of things I'd love to see Thorp pick up the North American distribution for Discipline's new album. I still don't know who's gonna be doin that and I don't want to have to order it from Europe.

well, we've already done sheer terror, so i'm happy. despite the cries of 'sell out' that we would be sure to receive, i would love to sign a band that sells hundreds of thousands of cds. just for the experience. the benefit to the rest of the active roster would probably be pretty significant, too.

Discipline - 6-2-2005 at 05:10 PM

Duane, if yer thinking metalcore or emo, just stop. Get it out of your head right now!

tireironsaint - 6-2-2005 at 06:37 PM

I'll second The Bad Vibes, although Steel Cage is a pretty good match for them, I think Thorp could boost 'em a bit more.

Slumlords would be good too.
As I mentioned elsewhere, you need to get The Meteors.

Lemme throw a little gas on the fire...

BDx13 - 6-2-2005 at 06:41 PM

One of the above mentioned bands has signed to THORP, and will be announced next Monday. And those among you who know which band I'm referring to best keep that shit hush-hush!

gavin - 6-2-2005 at 06:47 PM

steel cage has done ok by us so far
i honestly dont know why they like us so much but they seem to
most of the stuff they have is way more "rock" then we are
our friends in antiseen are with them so thats cool
i dont know
i dont understand the whole "business" part of being in a band
our thing with steel cage is on a handshake
i like when things are like that

newbreedbrian - 6-2-2005 at 11:14 PM

I would like to see the wednesday night heroes get signed. We did a couple shows with them a few weeks ago and they are awesome.

Great band with a crazy tour schedule every year, check em out.

Great band. I have both their albums and they get a lot of time in my cd player.

BDx13 - 6-5-2005 at 09:34 AM

interestingly, the band we're going to announce tomorrow already made mention of the signing on their site about a week ago. oops! well, if you really can't wait, a little detective work will yield the answer quickly.

oh, and it's none of the 50 bands endera listed!

clevohardcore - 6-5-2005 at 10:30 AM

I said in my last news that we would have our next record out in the Fall, unless we crapped the bed. Consider it crapped, but also consider this: we'll be making a move to another label that promises to support our releases with a new level of hype and public awareness! I can't name the label yet because we haven't officially signed, but we're so close that not only can I taste it, but I'm fully confident in their commitment. We're all really excited about this move. The next album will be released early next year and will commemorate our twentieth year anniversary as a band!

We've been working like dogs on the new material and have over a dozen new songs. The schedule has us recording in late August, so there's still plenty of time to continue creating and to fine tune what we have already.

^^^^^ Could it be???? I won't say who this is simply because I don't want to spoil some shit if it isn't them. I'm sure some of you could figure this out really quick though. Anyway whoever it is THORP RULES ALL!!!

brooklyn - 6-5-2005 at 11:34 AM

Slumlords
State of Disgrace
and with SOIA keeping its new label still a secret....., it would be great to have them on SOIA

oh please
let it be them,
my favorite band in hardcore

DAK - 6-5-2005 at 12:38 PM

No way. That was way too easy. I smell a trick up Duane's sleeve.

Discipline - 6-5-2005 at 05:26 PM

Please say it's SOIA.

Killthehumans - 6-5-2005 at 09:15 PM

slumlords

BDx13 - 6-5-2005 at 11:32 PM

Well, the fact that Sick Of It All has announced that they have a new label, but have NOT announced who it is sure made this an interesting thread. Andy and I had a chance to talk with Pete and Lou the weekend of the Superbowl of Hardcore, and while we do know what label they've signed with... it's not Thorp. Sorry, that would have been pretty damn cool.

BDx13 - 6-5-2005 at 11:41 PM

All the same, we're psyched ON THE OUTSIDE has signed with us!
http://thorprecords.com/boards/viewthread.php?tid=1576

An you should all congratulate SAAAAARS on keeping mum about this the past few weeks!

tireironsaint - 6-5-2005 at 11:57 PM

Sneaky Duane, I thought you were waiting until tomorrow to announce this!

BDx13 - 6-6-2005 at 12:03 AM

i usually work until about 3 in the morning, so 11:41PM is close enough to tomorrow (now today) for me!
