Some of you may have caught wind of a silly little project named "Jenocide" in the past year or so and if you have, you've probably been introduced as
well to the "Feminist" alter ego of our beloved Jen Clarke. Well folks, if you've seen Jenocide live you may have noticed a quiet guy at the back of
it. Well, that guy was the music behind it. Well that guy's had it. After starting this thing as a "band" with my close friend of many years Jen it
was time to create a project that would actually go somewhere unlike the previous project "Murder Sounds" doomed by an incompetent "producer" Andrew
Gormley who sunk the project (and threw away thousands of dollars that I put into the project along with tracks by some of Halifax's best musicians)
with neurotic re-writing of every song dozens of times.
But unfortunately having Jen in the name Jenocide seems to have given her license to turn this into a solo project. Now I'm no marketing idiot so I
know that a pretty face sells so I was cool with that granted I get publicity. Seems fair to me, I give her a fully produced album and live show(which
I paid for) and I get my name/face hucked around so that more musical projects come my way. But my publicity never materialized (good luck finding my
name or likeness on the website) and as of recently I started realizing that in her song requests to other producers I was being slandered for my
production. Now granted I'm no Eno or Knife but for my first attempt at electronic music I thought I did alright. So when this came to light it was
snap time.
I only wish I had acted earlier and nipped this joke of "Feminism" in the bud. As the son of a phenomenal single-mom who raised me while getting a
Ph.d. that dealt heavily with gender studies I've continuously been mortified by this this self-centered, hipster-fashion feminism. And sadly this
reverse sexism, what Jen advocates is un-doing the work of her beloved Riot Grrrls and the waves of feminism that came before. Completely retarded
comments like "Hey Boys, this song is about how we're going to steal your jobs!" and "Men can't be feminists!" just killed me. As someone who has seen
first hand the destruction of families and women due to the violent, patriarchal society we live in in my personal life and through my work at
Transition House (battered women's shelter), this shallow, exclusionary "feminism" is just the bullshit that we need to erase from the definition of
feminism for this is what Bill Kidneys of the world feed on. Systems and classes are rarely changed from the outside and only a BlackBlock "Anarchist"
dipshit would disagree.
Well, I'm done for now. Time to end my part in this bad joke, clip this little hang-nail in an otherwise wonderful life. I'll be surprised if Jen's
response consists of more than character attacks. But hey, I'm going to still keep music in my life despite all these nasty times and if any of you
awesome musicians/filmakers like 8 track analog and 5.1 mixing plus good rates give me a shout. I'm a great person to work with (just don't ask for my
credit card to pay for your solo project!)
