Auuhhh auuhhhhh!!!!

clevohardcore - 2-13-2010 at 01:30 AM

Serious? It looked tight on the previews and trailers. What sucked about it?

BDx13 - 2-13-2010 at 02:49 AM

wait, wait, wait...
wasit bad as in just straight up bad?
or bad in that it wasn't true to a comic?
cause i could give a fuck about a comic.
i just want a good looking, entertaining movie.

tireironsaint - 2-13-2010 at 03:40 AM

I've been waiting so long for this and then I was reading an article yesterday saying that all the rewrites and changes took the wind out of it. I'll probably still see it at some point just because I love the original Universal Monster movies so much, but I know not to expect the greatness I was hoping for.

DaveMoral - 2-13-2010 at 03:54 AM

What I read was that it's not so much that they changed anything that affected the original story so much as they didn't manage to add anything new or interesting to it AND that Del Toro is horribly miscast and looks uncomfortable in the role.

morgan - 2-13-2010 at 04:26 AM

That sucks. Was on the fence about whether or not I'd see it but the trailer looked interesting.

Well first of all there's no Wolfman comic (well I'm sure there was some comic at some point)....it's a remake of the classic Universal horror film. Please D tell me you know that or we're going to have to give you some dvd homework. :grind:

It has nothing to do with it's faithfulness to any source material.

The movie starts off seemingly on a runaway train to get to Talbot being bitten. It really feels rushed...like stuff happening, stuff happening, some forced acting scene to take things seriously, stuff happening....whoah werewolf biting me. Then they do almost a ten minute montage of stuff happening to fast forward you to the next month/full moon.

That's fine to a degree...because this is The Wolfman, not the Talbot family story...but in that 10 minutes, you have more stuff happening mixed in with a visit from Agent Smith/Elrond.

Then there's more stuff happening, awkward love story, wierd acting segments, stuff happening, stuff happening...etc etc....

I won't even get into the completely rediculous plot twist involving Anthony Hopkins.

In a nutshell I don't know if it was the constant rewrites of a bad script, multiple directors or what the hell happened...it wasn't Benecio...he was ok. It just felt like a giant mess of wierd shit slopped together with un needed acting scenes to try and legtimize all the stuff happening.

Still gonna watch it.

Some things you just have to turn the other cheek too.

Like the rumours of an oldboy re-make with Will Smith as the lead, but having saying that clash of the titans looks awesome.

Jason the Magnificent - 2-13-2010 at 08:37 AM

Not sure what turning the other cheek has to do with anything...it's not bad because it's a remake or because they retold some untouchable classic movie. That's a bunch of shit, Hollywood hasn't had an original idea in years, at least sometimes remakes are good stories.

This is just a sloppily put together movie with little to no cohesion of any kind.

By all means, check it out for yourself. But bring a pillow.

DaveMoral - 2-13-2010 at 12:34 PM

I'll see it myself. Maybe not in the theaters, but I'll definitely give it a watch eventually. Maybe I'll just wait til it's in the 2 dollar theaters or something.

I class it as turning the other cheek because like you've just stated they become a factory for ripping off old ideas and making them new.

Having said that i really enjoyed dawn of the the dead.

We kind of have it going on here there's just been a re-make of an old hooligan film called The firm. Starred gary oldman, they completely changed it along with the ending.
Still watchable but not great.

That just seems so incredibly wrong. Just the idea of remaking is bad, let alone with will smith in in.

Discipline - 2-13-2010 at 05:18 PM

Fuck. I was looking forward to seeing Wolfman. Now, not so much.

If this is anywhere near as bad as that movie Legion was i am giving up. Legion looked cool in the trailers, but was a total turd in reality.

Discipline - 2-13-2010 at 10:15 PM

Damn. I really want to see Legion.

Don't do it, don't even rent it, wait until it shows up on cable.

Jason the Magnificent - 2-14-2010 at 08:07 AM

There's always Shutter Island to look forward to...

At least that movie will be halfway decent regardless of how bad it is.

Jason the Magnificent - 2-14-2010 at 02:44 PM

I don't buy Scorsese making a bad movie. That and solid source material together...it has to really fail to be a bust.
